Such a pleasure to see this amazing group of strong women defying brutal Arctic conditions to complete this incredible adventure.

Another international group of adventurers looking for a unique challenge in Europe’s last great wilderness.

The success due to some incredible supportive team work and good preparation done in the Surrey hills and Guildford.

Here’s to the next adventure 🔱

Bosnia 93’

I left the Regular Army did some EOD work in Kuwait after the first Gulf War and then Bosnia kicked off.

Meeting some cool dudes at a party this idea about becoming a war photographer popped in my head.

A four tonner was leaving London full of supplies so I brought a 500cc XT Yamaha and a camera , threw it in the back and went along for the ride.

Save the stories for another day but it was a crazy ride.

This year the Arctic has seen many storms but with long periods of unseasonably warm weather.

Arctic Warrior began with glorious sunshine and crystal blue skies.

It is incredibly beautiful yet makes skiing difficult. Snow turns to rain then ices overnight making the going tough. Whilst skiing you can easily overheat and the snow sticks to the bottom of your skis.

Another complication is the once safe passage provided by frozen rivers become dangerous no go zones.

Still we adapt, we look at what’s in front of us and deal with that.

It made for a great couple of training days but led the group into a false sense of security….a storm was brewing.

The team have arrived in Abisko for Arctic Warrior 2025.

A truly international team with guys flying in from Australia, Thailand, Los Angeles, Malaga, Amsterdam and UK.

Sure to be a great week ahead.

Brilliant to catch up with the boss recently .

As a disengaged young person listening to situation reports from Operation Drake on inspired me to apply for a place on Operation Raleigh and later to join the Royal Engineers.

has inspired tens of thousands of young people around the World by helping them to expand their horizon and shift perspectives.

Operation Raleigh played a major positive influence in my life, it was an opportunity I will ever be grateful for and I endeavour to meet the final part of our challenge, to give back to the next generation.

It almost feels like they need it more than we ever did.

Russian trenches, Hindu Kush 2002

You gotta train every day….I never forgot those words from the selection chief instructor.

Even whilst deployed overseas in 50 degree heat….only make sure you carry a pistol and a radio.

Not just for your physical fitness but to give you an outlet, release the tension.

Back in the early days it wasn't yet the wild west, still there were moments but the release rarely came.

No adrenaline fuelled contacts with the enemy just months of tension, stress and fatigue.

Still you gotta train every day.

Whatever that looks like for you….mind and body, train every day.

TBT Operation Raleigh selection weekend 1985

I caught sight of a poster advertising a round the world expedition at Waterloo station.

It set me off on a journey to the Army, expeditions and a life of global adventures.

I might have missed it or looked the other way.

Gets me thinking that things are meant to be, that all this is worked out for you?

I like the notion that our souls write a contract before we take our place on Earth and our job in life is to fulfil that contract.

I know that's deep but what do you say?
