Graeme's journey through Northern Norway continued with an overnight stay at Isbreen - The Glacier where he was warmly welcomed by owner and host Christine.

At All Nordics, we are always looking for small-scale places that offer something genuinely special, destinations with a personal touch, outstanding service and memorable hospitality. Isbreen – The Glacier delivers on all of these. Set in a spectacular location surrounded by breathtaking scenery, it offers a peaceful, off-the-beaten-path experience hard to find elsewhere.

Spending time here gave Graeme the opportunity to experience the property first-hand, meet the people behind it, and explore the local area. Guests can immerse themselves in the community, enjoy the relaxed pace of life, and choose from a range of activities including hiking, cycling, swimming and locally guided experiences.

One of the highlights of the stay was the food. Graeme described the culinary experience at Isbreen as truly world-class, with every meal reflecting the quality, care and local character that make this remarkable place so memorable.

Els has been out exploring Svalbard this week, making the most of that fascinating time between seasons. 🐾

Alongside catching up with our trusted local partners and exploring more of the area, she headed out with the dogs for some summer carting, a brilliant way to experience Svalbard’s landscapes before winter returns.

These in-between months offer a completely different perspective on the archipelago. Quieter, raw and ever-changing, they are the perfect opportunity for us to experience activities first-hand, reconnect with suppliers and keep discovering new ways for our clients to explore Svalbard.

Because the best recommendations always come from being there in person...

Els is in Svalbard this week, catching up with long-standing partners, meeting new suppliers and discovering even more of what this extraordinary Arctic destination has to offer.

Of course, even in one of the world’s most remote places, the inbox doesn’t stop. Luckily, there’s always time for a Svalbard fika between meetings.

Being on the ground, building relationships and experiencing destinations first-hand is such an important part of what we do at All Nordics. It means we can keep creating trips based on real knowledge, trusted partnerships and the latest experiences available to our clients.

Graeme's summer road trip through Northern Norway continued with a visit to Sorrisniva
Arctic Wilderness Lodge in the Alta region of Finnmark.

Set on the banks of the Alta River, the lodge is in a beautiful location and is a wonderful
place to experience the peace and natural beauty of Northern Norway. During the visit,
Graeme met with Charlotte, Sales and Marketing Manager, to hear about the latest developments at the property and discuss new opportunities and exclusive experiences that All Nordics can offer our guests.

When staying at Sorrisniva, Graeme’s recommendation is the King’s suite, a wonderful large
suite which is also the choice of the King of Norway on his regular visits to the region.

Before leaving the area, Graeme also stopped by nearby Trasti & Trine. This charming local
spot combines a bakery, café and small shop with a range of authentic experiences, including
summer activities with their friendly huskies. It's exactly the kind of hidden gem that first-
hand visits help us discover and confidently recommend to our clients.

Tomorrow, all eyes will be on Iceland.

On 12th August, 5.58pm local time, a total solar eclipse will cross parts of the country, with the Moon completely covering the Sun and briefly turning the Icelandic afternoon sky dark.

It is a rare natural event and one that travellers have been planning around for a long time. Many of the best placed accommodation options and eclipse experiences were already booked months ago, showing the extraordinary demand that events like this can create.

Meanwhile, our team in Sweden will also be looking upwards, with the partial eclipse beginning at around 7.03pm.

For those of us working in Nordic travel, it is also a reminder of the value of planning ahead.

Whether it is a solar eclipse, the midnight sun, the northern lights or another natural phenomenon, the right timing can turn a trip into something guests remember for the rest of their lives.

Tomorrow, Iceland gets its moment in the shadow of the Moon.

Annika spent some of her summer break exploring one of Sweden’s most spectacular wilderness areas on foot.

Over five days and four nights, she completed the 53 km Treparksmötet, or Three-Park-Meeting, hiking through Sarek, Padjelanta and Stora Sjöfallet National Parks. The entire route sits within the UNESCO-listed Laponia World Heritage area.

The journey began with a boat trip across Lake Akkajaure before days of hiking between remote mountain cabins, surrounded by vast landscapes, peaceful trails and incredible views. With no electricity or running water along the way, it was a true escape into nature.

Sometimes, a version of luxury lies in the remoteness, the quiet and the untouched, unspoiled landscapes. It is the rare opportunity to fully switch off, disconnect from everyday life and simply be present in nature.

Experiences like this are a reminder of just how wild, beautiful and varied the Swedish north can be.

Summer in the Nordics is a fantastic time to explore the region, and one of the ways we keep
our destination knowledge up to date is by getting out on the road ourselves.

Graeme recently set off on a self-drive journey through Northern Norway, visiting many of
the destinations and trusted partners that All Nordics recommends to clients. Spending time
on the ground allows us to experience what's new, strengthen local relationships, and ensure
our recommendations are based on first-hand knowledge.

The journey began in the Alta region with a stop in Kautokeino, a small village at the heart of
Sami culture. A visit to the Riddoduottar Museum provides an excellent introduction to the
area's rich history and traditions, while the Juhls Silver Gallery is well worth exploring for its
unique blend of jewellery, art and traditional handicrafts.

Keep an eye out for Graeme's next report as he continues his journey with a visit to
Sorrisniva.

The Aalto Works have officially joined the UNESCO World Heritage List, celebrating Finland’s distinctive approach to architecture, design and wellbeing. 🇫🇮

The news felt especially timely for Annika, who visited the Aalto Design: Shapes of Wellbeing exhibition in Helsinki just two weeks ago, exploring how thoughtful design can improve the way we live and feel.

A weekend in the North with Karolina 🌅

Karolina spent the night camping by the sea and was treated to one of the first beautiful sunsets of the season.

After a month of polar day and 24-hour daylight, sunsets and sunrises are finally returning to the Arctic Circle. Last night, the sun dipped below the horizon at around 10:30pm, only to rise again a few hours later at 3:30am.

The days are still wonderfully long, but there is now a hint of darkness creeping back into the evenings. Before long, the Nordic nights will return in full.

For Karolina, it is these dramatic seasonal contrasts that make life in the North so special. From endless summer light to the deep darkness of winter, there is always a new atmosphere, landscape or experience waiting just around the corner.

It is also why our local knowledge runs so deep. We do not simply sell the Nordics. We live them.

The team had a day out with a difference this week, at the Crystal Sauna in Wasteland, Skellefteå. Visit Skellefteå

Located within the Skellefteå Climate Action Park, the sauna forms part of an ambitious project transforming a former industrial site into a space dedicated to art, innovation and sustainable development, lakeside.

Designed by internationally recognised artist duo Bigert & Bergström, the Crystal Sauna offered our team the chance to experience an important part of Nordic culture while learning more about the creative ideas shaping the future of the region.

At All Nordics, spending time in the destinations we sell is central to what we do. It helps our team build stronger local knowledge, discover original experiences and share informed recommendations with our travel partners.

A memorable afternoon of conversation, reflection and, of course, a proper Nordic sauna.
