The spring is close. Our friends, the reindeer, are still here, roaming freely through the forest.

Today, we gave them a little extra support: some additional feed and a salt stone placed out earlier.

They don’t actually need it, the forest already provides plenty. But by offering extra food and minerals, we help keep them away from the roads, we make it safer for them. It’s a small but important part of living and working alongside these animals.

And it’s one of many authentic moments you’ll experience during our Reindeer Encounter. Soon they start to turn and walk towards west, towards the mountains. Then the big reindeer migration starts. In November they will be back.

The season is turning.

After months of dancing skies, silent forests, and cold nights under the stars, the Northern Lights season is slowly coming to an end. We now have just about three weeks left to witness this Arctic magic before the midnight sun takes over.

There’s something special about this transition. The last auroras always feel a bit more intense, like a final performance before the curtain falls.

At the same time, we’re already shifting gears. Snow are melting, rivers will open, and a new chapter begins. Kayaks, fishing rods, hiking boots, open fires under the evening sun, summer in the Arctic is on its way.

But for now, we stay present. We look up. We enjoy these final nights.

There’s something timeless about ice fishing in Swedish Lapland.

Out here, on a frozen lake surrounded by silent forests. You’re not just fishing, you’re stepping into a tradition that’s been part of life in the north for generations. Long before it became an experience for visitors, this was survival. Food on the table. Stories shared over open fires. Knowledge passed quietly from one generation to the next.

The rhythm hasn’t changed much.

Drill the hole. Feel the cold air. Watch the line. Listen to the ice speak beneath your feet.

Maybe you catch a fish. Maybe you don’t. Ice fishing is about slowing down. Understanding the landscape. Respecting the winter instead of fighting it.

Here, people have lived with this environment for centuries.

This is not just fishing. This is Arctic culture.

Some nice nights the Arctic sky explodes with northern lights. Other nights the forest itself becomes the experience.

Our Nighttime Safari starts at 20:30, when the winter forest is at its quietest. Under headlamps and the soft glow of moonlight we move slowly through deep snow on snowshoes, surrounded by frozen trees and absolute silence.

If the aurora appears, we stop and watch the sky dance. If it doesn’t, the night still gives us something special.

We light a fire directly in the snow, warm our hands, and enjoy hot drinks together. Fresh homemade pastries come out of the backpack, along with local delicacies, flavours from the Arctic forest.

No crowds. No noise. Just the winter night the way it has always been here.

This aurora season has been one for the books.

Some of nights the sky has delivered, soft green curtains, sudden bursts of violet, slow-moving waves. Some of those moments the whole horizon has been dancing.

Some evenings have been calm and quiet.
Others, full-on northern lights chaos.

What makes a season like this special isn’t just the strength of the solar activity, it’s the rhythm. The consistency. The feeling that winter itself is putting on a show, again and again, for those willing to step outside and look up for a few hours.

Cold air. Crunching snow. A silent forest.
And above it all, light in motion.

This season has been truly remarkable.

Suddenly, it stands in front of you. The queen of the forest. The temperature is -35 degrees C. The northern lights is dancing in the sky. The moose moves slow away.

It stopped for a small snack from the bush closest. Then it continues away.

This is what we experienced during a Nighttime safari last night.

This was an once in a life time memory created. 🥰

The sky is on fire. The snow is laying heavy on the trees and the reindeers are looking for food. It’s looks like it’s taken direct from a movie, but it’s not. It’s a direct glimpse of our life, our life style and the area we are living in. We share it proudly with our guests. 🤗

White snow as far as the eye can see.
The snowmobile glides through the forest landscape, trees heavy with snow and frost, the air sharp and clean in that way only a true winter day can be.

Then we stop.
There, between the trunks, a moose steps out, calm and unbothered, as if the forest belongs to it (which, frankly, it does). A little later, we spot reindeer, moving slowly across the white, completely at home in the landscape.

This isn’t staged.
No fences.
No scenery built for show.

This is northern Sweden the way it has always been — raw, beautiful, and honest.

Once, this was how people traveled because they had to.
Today, we do it to feel the same landscape, the same rhythm, and the same respect for nature.

Winter at its best.
Snowmobile. Snow. Wildlife. Silence.

It has a way of putting things into perspective.
