Day 5 – Along the old railway to Eketorp
Today, I followed the trail that runs along an old railway. 17 km later, I finally reached Eketorp, ready for a well-deserved break and some exploration of the fortress ruins.

Not exactly relaxing, but definitely rewarding! Now I'm ready to enjoy a 3h spa at as I always do at the end of a week hike.

See you later for new adventures!

Day 4 – Luxury: walls and a pillow 🛏️
Today I reached the Mellby Ör Inn —a bed, a real one! With sheets! And a shower that doesn’t involve guessing if the sea is warmer than the air (it's not).

After seven nights of sleeping in my car like a minimalist on wheels, this felt like five-star living.

The hike was nice, mostly because I knew a warm shower was waiting.
It even rained a bit—of course precisely during my lunch break. Classic.

Day 3 – Wildlife on strike 🦌❌
Today's excitement? Walking... on roads. For hours. Flat, straight roads.
Zero animals. Not even a sheep. Not even a suspicious bird.
Even the cows ghosted me.

I started waving at road signs just to feel something.

On the bright side: I made great progress. On the dull side: so did my blisters.

Camped again tonight. Hoping tomorrow brings more forest and fewer kilometers of existential reflection.

Day 2 – Heading south on the Mörbylångaleden 🌿
Today’s trail led me deeper into Öland’s quiet countryside. Waves on one side, pine forest on the other, I felt like I had the whole island to myself ☀️
More to come tomorrow!

Let’s kick off a 5-day hiking adventure in the south of Öland! 🌾

Day 1: On the Mörbylångaleden, exploring the countryside around Färjestaden.
Charming landscapes, peaceful trails, and a perfect start to this journey on foot 🥾☀️

At the end of the 4th day, I spent some time going through documents I picked up at the tourist office and planning hikes for the days ahead. With good weather in the forecast and a bit of free time on my hands, I decided to embark on a 5-day hiking adventure.

The plan: hike by day, camp by night- just like I've been doing so far-except for Day 4, when I'll stay at a cozy inn (no bus available that day!). I'll return to my car by bus at the end of the journey.

Here's a look at the route I've mapped out for this 5-day hike. Photos are coming in the next few weeks - stay tuned! 😉
