🪾The Bosjökloster Oak, located on the grounds of Bosjökloster Castle in Skåne, Sweden, is famously referred to as a "thousand-year-old oak," though experts estimate its actual age to be around 600 to 800 years old.
💥 Quick Facts:
🌳Size: It is the largest tree in the Skåne region, boasting a massive trunk circumference of nearly 10 meters (approx. 32 feet).
🪾Location: You can find it in the historical English-style park at Bosjökloster Castle, beautifully situated by Lake Ringsjön in Höör.
🪾Status: While it is one of Sweden's most impressive ancient trees, the only scientifically proven 1,000-year-old oak in Sweden is actually the Kvilleken (Rumskulla oak) located in Småland.

Welcome to Foteviken 2026!
Fotevikens Museum near Malmö is an archaeological open-air museum with 23 buildings of different character that shows what life might have been like in a town during the late Viking Age - the beginning of the 11th century.

During the summer you can experience what a Viking village might have looked like over 1000 years ago. Inside and outside the village, you can try various activities throughout the day, as well as activities and performances organized by the Foteviken.

Viking Village and one of the largest Viking associations in the country, Halsingarna. They will set up their large camp, filled with exciting things to experience and see!

MAX IV Laboratory in LUND, Sweden, which was built between 2010 and 2016
is a research facility and the world's first 4th-generation synchrotron light source.
Hosted by Lund University, it operates like a super-microscope, utilizing ultra-bright X-ray beams to view materials down to the atomic and molecular level.
🔬 Core Science & Technology. How it works:
A linear accelerator shoots electrons to nearly the speed of light. They enter two storage rings (1.5 GeV and 3.0 GeV) where magnets bend their path, releasing intense synchrotron X-ray light.

Brightness: The light produced is up to 100 times brighter than previous synchrotron generations.

Research Fields: Experiments span materials science, structural biology, nanotechnology, pharmacology, and environmental engineering.

The construction and operation of MAX IV were funded through a joint partnership of government agencies, universities, private foundations, and international contributors.

💰 Private & Charitable Foundations:
The Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation: A major Swedish charitable foundation that has contributed over 1 billion SEK, heavily funding the high-tech beamlines and experimental stations.

The Novo Nordisk Foundation: Based in Denmark, they awarded a massive DKK 255 million grant to specifically build and operate the "MicroMAX" structural biology beamline.
