Mrs.Wolf Adventures

Mrs.Wolf Adventures Welcome to Swedish Lapland! Several years ago we choose our adventure - move from Latvia to Swedish Lapland with 11 Siberian Huskies.

We fell in love with the landscape of wilderness. You are welcome to follow and be part of our adventure.

After 4 years in Sweden, we finally tried surströmming -
fermented Baltic herring that’s famous for its very… strong smell 😅

It’s traditionally eaten outdoors (for a reason),
and definitely not something everyone enjoys.

Let’s just say — we had very different reactions.

Have you ever tried it?

Ten years ago, one of our puppies found his forever home in Switzerland.
And with him, someone else entered our lives — his new owner, Lysiane.
We didn’t know it then, but she would open the door to a completely new chapter for us.

She told us that in Sweden you can rent places with dog yards and stay there for weeks — living close to nature and exploring the trails with your own dogs.
So we tried it.
Once, then again… and again.

Winter after winter, Sweden became our home away from home.
Later, Lysiane bought a house there — and before long, we became neighbours.
The kind you don’t choose, but life brings you — and you’re grateful forever.

We shared this path with our friend Mārtiņš too.
Now, year after year, he comes with his huskies to explore the endless winter trails around us.

So this is a reminder for anyone dreaming of adventures with their dogs:
opportunities exist — you just need to look for them.
Search “mushing in Sweden” on Google, open your heart to the unknown, and let the journey begin.

January often looks magical in the North ✨
But if you’re chasing the northern lights, it can quietly disappoint.

Here’s something many visitors don’t know 👇
In early winter, lakes and rivers are often not fully frozen yet. As water slowly evaporates, it creates ice crystals in the air. These crystals form a kind of invisible barrier, making auroras harder to see clearly — even on active nights.

This insight comes from our colleague — a professional photographer who truly knows the North. He has spent years reading light, weather, landscapes, and timing.
If you’re dreaming of going aurora hunting and want to do it wisely, he can also be your guide — helping you choose not just the right place, but the right moment.

From our experience, February and March often offer clearer skies and better conditions for seeing and photographing the northern lights.

✨ Sometimes the magic is not about luck — but about knowing when and where to look.

Save this post if aurora hunting is on your list, and feel free to reach out if you’d like guidance for the North.

This is our neighbor Julie with her team. People often asked why we don’t go with a sled. This way gives us control, flexibility and calm — not speed.

Living and training with dogs in the north isn’t always about tradition —
it’s about what works in that moment (when our trails are so icy), in that place, with those dogs.

There is no one right way. And this can change after fresh snow :)

📌 CTA: What would you like to know more about? Maybe you want to know which competitions Julie is training for?

It sevišķi situācijā, ja plānojat ņemt suni…

ENG - Nora's unexpected surgery and its high costs showed how important a planned and organized budget is. Life with a lot of dogs requires not only love, but also financial investments. And it was important for us to pay attention to this issue. If many people save for children's education, we realized that we need to invest in the well-being of dogs. That is why we are participants in some project “Money Mindset & Planning” created by Inga Bolukemini. We conscientiously complete all the tasks. And finally, we really look at it and calculate how much it costs on average per month to maintain 11 Siberian Huskies, living with them in Swedish Lapland. I am sure that many people have know this for a long time. But maybe someone else will find it useful to remind them to do the math. Especially in a situation where you are planning to get a dog...

Haskiju parks/husky park

Garkalne (21 km from Riga centre) is a home for a very special dog – Siberian husky Mrs.Vulfa. Anyone who has had an opportunity to feel the glance of her eyes has fall in love to Siberian huskies.
