A trip to Panama
”If you think Panama is ”just” a trading post, think again—this vibrant destination has so much more to offer!” Going here your starting point will most likely be Panama City which is a cosmopolitan city with a young vibe and lots of history. The Panama canal is located about 20 minutes from the city, and is one of the greatest engineering masterpieces of the 20th century and a ”must visit”. Then head to El Casco, as locals call it, is the historic district of Panama City and a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It has often been compared to the New Orleans’s French quarter with a mix of Spanish, Caribbean and French architecture and an eclectic foodie scene.
Leaving the city behind you can head to explore one of the world’s most biodiverse rainforests in Darien National Park. Recommended for true adventurers only, the park is rainy, humid and extremely remote but live with Baird’s tapir, jaguars, Colombian spider monkeys and the strawberry Poison-Dart Frog..
If you’d rather have ”a better than the Maldives experience” we truly recommend the amazing archipelago of Bocas del Toro, only a 45-minute flight from Panama City. Spoil yourself to a stay at Naya Bocas del Toro and their overwater villas with features like private saltwater pools and glass floor inlay to view the marine life below from the comfort of your villa. Your villa comes with a private boat and naturalist trained captain ready to take you on a ride to explore the island and islets. The list of activities on offer is long - snorkelling coral reefs teeming with wildlife, visiting the sea turtle nesting ground, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding, scuba diving, ancient shipwrecks, surfing incredible waves, and fish for snapper..
This ultra sustainable off grid lodge is also completely solar powered and fully committed to nature conservation.
