Yesterday SWEACC arranged a Healthcare & Impact cluster event at Flemingsberg Science Park focusing on cancer in Kenya. Great seminar and a lot of very interesting information to work with as a Chamber wanting to create more private sector partnerships and business, now inside healthcare sector.

Big thank you to our partners in Kenya, Kenya Healthcare Federation, and big thank you to Flemingsberg Life Science Cluster that was our host for the day. I also want to send thank you to all speakers for very interesting information shared with us. This was a good start to our partnership with Kenya Healthcare Federation (KHF).

I want to thank all speakers: Dr Anne Musiava, and Dr Noelle Orata from KHF giving us an idea of the market and landscape inside the private sector in Kenya, Natasha Bank, leader of Flemingsberg Life Science Cluster about the academic and research partnerships possible, Dr. Vishal Patel, Chief Medical Offer at M.P. Shah Hospital in Nairobi and Dr Kanyenje Gakombe, CEO for the Metropolitan Hospital in Nairobi that both gave us an idea how Swedish companies can work with these top of the line (Tier 6) hospitals. Also thank to Christophe Sacko, Health Ambassador for Africa at LM International, Cornilla von Plomgren, Funding and Partnerships at Elekta Foundation, Eric Wahu from Buyon8 and Mikaela Annerling, Regional Director at Swecare. All these organizations work on early stage detection and other good programs for better health. It should have been a conference day, not a couple of hours seminar as these topics was so interesting to hear about and learn more.

Picture are from the SWEACC and Flemingsberg team of members and volunteers helping and from some of our onsite speakers. I will not list all, but I do thank all. Mostly this was done online with all our interesting speakers working in Kenya.

Today we (Swedish East African Chamber of Commerce) arranged the Ethiopia Sweden B2B session together with the Ethiopian Embassy in Stockholm. Today’s theme was Invest in Ethiopia: Opportunities in Africa's Fastest Reforming Economy. First, we like to thank H.E. Ambassador Mehreteab Mulugeta who was today’s host, and we like to thank H.E. Ambassador Magnus Lennartsson, Ambassador of Sweden to Ethiopia who took time to attend both for event and mingle after.

We also like to thank our partner in Ethiopia Mrs. Helen Ritta, Deputy Secretary General of ECCSA who join in online to talk about their organization and work in Ethiopia. In total we were over 60 people attending, just short of 30 at the Embassy and over 30 online. Many interesting speakers, but also interesting topics from the people online and in the room. Beside Chair Joachim Davidsson, both board members Janet Magato onsite and Amen Hultström online was speaking. We also want to mention Deputy Chair Heaven Bereket who was worked hard for years inside SWEACC to develop more business and partnerships between Sweden and Ethiopia.

Final thanks to Minister Plenipotentiary, Mr. Tesfakiros Hailu Gebremariam, todays Master of Ceremony, but also the important person behind the scenes making sure all things went smoothly.

Now let’s continue developing business and partnerships between Ethiopia and Sweden.

Today SWEACC had our first board meeting after summer break and it will be a hectic year, rest of 2026. One news for our members is that we formed a new Financial Group inside SWEACC, and this group is tasked with monitoring the landscape regarding program and project funding that SWEACC can apply for to support its activities in Sweden and in East Africa.

We seek financial support for an administration office, funding for more cluster development, international cooperation projects, business forum and events and more academic joint ventures focus on development in East Africa.

The Embassy of Sweden in Addis Ababa invites Swedish companies active in Ethiopia to partner in its 80th anniversary reception at the Swedish Residence on Friday, 30 October.

The business-focused event will offer opportunities for visibility, high-level networking, product showcases and tailored invitations to key stakeholders, with a separate exhibition and B2B networking day also under consideration for Thursday, 29 October. Companies may participate through financial or in-kind contributions at different partnership levels, with benefits including communications exposure, exhibition space, matchmaking support, speaking opportunities and guest invitations. Welcome to join our next SWEACC Healthcare & Impact cluster event on September 17th, in Stockholm. The Swedish East African Chamber of Commerce (SWEACC) and the Kenya Healthcare Federation (KHF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen private-sector partnerships and healthcare delivery between Sweden and East Africa. Now we invite you to know more about future partnerships in East Africa.

One focus area we will focus on is oncology in Kenya. Cancer has become one of Kenya’s fastest-rising health and economic threats, with about 48,000 new cases and 33,000 deaths annually. Patients are diagnosed late, diagnostic delays, and there is need for better and more early detection systems, beside cost-efficient treatments. SWEACC and KHF want to create new private-sector partnerships aim to rebalance the cancer ecosystem toward prevention, timely diagnosis, modern treatment and sustainable industrialization.
