A lovely weekend of glass painting 🎄🌼🌸🌺
Thank you @keppelclub for inviting @sunshinenlove_sg to facilitate an Art Escape workshop for your members 🥰🌼 We had a wonderful time together learning how to create simple brush strokes patterns on glass. The highlight for me was seeing the members light up (literally!) when they shone their handphone light over the glass! Their glass artwork shone as brightly as their smiles ✨😍😌✨
Thank you dear members for taking time out from your busy schedules to paint with us 😃🫶✨ Really love all your heartfelt creations! ❤️🥰

“More Than Words” Glass Art
[ 💌 ]
I named this glass art series “More Than Words”because I realised as the years go by, the introvert in me grows more intensely and even though I’m in an “extrovert job” running craft workshops, my first love is still the written word :)
Words have so much power to uplift, encourage and empower… 🥹✨🌱 and so I really hope for this series of glass art to do the same, to encourage a downtrodden friend or a loved one. Behind the festivities, there are moments where we might encounter loneliness, heartbreaks or even feel a tinge of grief, sadness that the year is ending, I hope then these glass art will shine bright, give light and warm thoughts as you use them daily 🥹💖✨
Here are some new glass art pieces to add to the More Than Words collection for our upcoming Christmas Market pop up at @stmary.sg! Really hope to see you all on 9th and 10th December ❤️ More info of the pop up here: www.stmary.sg/christmasvillage

Caring for your Sunshine glassware 💛
[ Art On Everyday Object ]
Can you guess what are the popular comments we usually get at our pop up events or from clients who write in to order gifts from us? 🙃
Yes, my fellow practical friends, you guessed it:
“Will the paints will drop off?”
“The glasses are so nice! Nah, I think I’ll use them as a display only”
“Is it really okay to use for food and drinks?”
I think most of us are wired to think towards practicality which is really important BUT when it comes to art, sometimes the lines gets blurred. One of my heart beat in designing and creating these hand painted pieces was the intention to make art accessible on everyday objects———filled with warmth and stories to fill your day as we go about being and doing what we need to do 💕 So my heart do feel pained (abit lah) when we know our glassware are left in the display cupboard for too long 🥹🫣
Finally got down making a video to address some of the questions we get about product care (this is a one take video I did, so please be kind with your comments okies!! 🤓) I would also like to highlight two other things:
☑️ Because we keep the paints organic, we do not add any chemical coating over the paints, the paints are not scratch proof; as such handwash is recommended to keep the artwork intact for the long haul.
☑️ Please (!!) avoid handwashing the glasses in a sink of dirty dishes to avoid staining the artwork.
Have a great day ahead folks and let’s cheers to the gift of life we receive everyday 💛

Paint A Rainbow Mug 🌈
[ 🌈 ]
I have something to confess: been having the 7 years itch and wondering if I should leave my sunshine work aside and go do a full time job instead (not because of anything bad that has happen with our sunshine work; but i do wonder “the ifs” from time to time). BUT everytime when I think that, I try that, I end up coming back “feeling right” with Sunshine&Love 🥹
This midweek we were invited by thirtytwocm to be Guest Craft Instructors to seniors at Project “My House Downstairs” at Pek Kio Community Centre. Many of whom have retired, some living alone, some with their siblings, some with their helpers and weekly, they look forward to their highlight Thursday——to drop in the centre to create art; make crafts, and make a friend, enjoy each other’s company in this lovely quaint neighbourhood. 🫶🫶🫶
Yesterday’s workshop event turned my heart ♥️🥲♥️ into a big puddle of mush when i saw sisters helping one another to speak, to interpret, because language was difficult for one of them 👯♀️, aunties encouraging one another that their brush stroke on the glass mug was “jin sui” (very pretty in Hokkien) 🎨, uncle telling me his favourite colour is pink 💓, auntie who can’t see in one eye, asking me which darker paint colours can she choose from as she wants to enjoy the mug art when she brings it home 💙💚, the uncles and aunties squealing in joy; enjoying our curated workshop music when we played musical box 🙃🎶🎤, the seniors clapping and cheering for one another when they shared a snippet about themselves through the game. 👏🥁
The richness of life can only be truly felt when the barriers and the high walls around us are broken down. Extremely thankful for this community platform where we could be part of—— to design, conduct and facilitate our #bespoke Paint A Rainbow Mug Workshop for the Pek Kio Seniors. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

We turn 6 today! 🌞🎉
[ 🌞 ]
It’s our 6 years old birthday today 🎉🎉 and at the risk of sounding egotistical, I thought I should ownself check ownself to spring this surprise video chat with my painting and workshop buddies Danny & Joshua to spill the beans on what it is like working with me whilst trying to keep on track with what we hope to do at Sunshine & Love daily 🤪🤪🤭🤭
Thankful for another sunshine year that zoomed by (which seems to go now even faster than the pre-covid days) 🥲🔆 The truth of it is that there’s so many wishes on the to-improve list for this little craft business, but yet the struggling perfectionist in me refuses to let go of meaningful relationships, daily laughter and a work-life-rest balance quality; and in the midst of this insistence, sometimes we go quite slow with our creating & painting process 🥺🙏
So…we are really grateful if you’re an old friend who has been sticking around all these years and showing the sunshine team much patience as we endeavour to create art on everyday objects. To our new sunshine friends, thank you for dropping by and we hope to get to know you better through friendship, our craft gifts and workshops as we journey ahead together ♥️🌞🌼🌿
Happy 6 years and here’s looking forward to creating more sunshine moments with our family & friends! 🔆💕

A Crafter’s Journey 🔆
[ 🙂🥱😶🤗 ]
Last day of September and we are also about to enter the last quarter of the year in October 😱😱 Besides feeling a tad sentimental and wondering how did all the time go by so fast, i also thought about how my work process has evolved over last couple of years 🤔😬
From the earlier days of needing a caffeine boost after lunch to stay focused during painting ☕️🫖🍵, to late night hours of painting and also learning that my eyes can’t take it now 😴😵💫, to learning to manage the waiting game of (patiently I try!) for creative inspiration to say hello to me 🤔😶🌫️ , to now actually enjoying the waking up early to see sunrise and multi-task with my art brushes 😜🖌 ~ life has taught me change is truly a constant roller coaster ride indeed 🤪🙏
Anyone resonates with these thoughts too? 🙈💕
(and yes) Happy October! Please be kind to us 🥲😙♥️🔆

Of work and teabreaks 🖐☕️
[Of work and tea breaks ]
A long time 6 years ago when Sunshine Love first started, I used to feel embarrassed and awkward when people asked me how many mugs I could paint in a day and my answer is (erm…) about one or max two mugs if I start the day really early or end the night very late 🤷🏻♀️🥺😅
I think back then I only saw my “work” as the actual painting process only even though a-lot of my other time is spent on other “work” like sourcing for suitable craft supplies locally and internationally, planning our design and craft processes, taking time to reply messages, emails, prepare quotes, other administration and marketing stuff 🙈🙈 AND that’s when my burnout kept on happening every few months… 🥲🥺😩
Moving 6 years onwards, the better & wiser-me is learning it’s totally okay to ask for help from my sunshine team Joshua Loh Yoon Ping Danny Lin when I need to and also do the tea break thingy which I used to scoff at that it’s for “lazy” people 😰😢😞🥲 I also learnt increasingly that in the midst of the day, it is healthy to stretch, pause and rest the eyes, arms, shoulder and my neck which is the machine that produce our sorta handpainted work 🖐✋🥲🙏♥️
Happy mid week guys and (plsss) don’t forget to take a pause for your tea break time 🙈♥️

[ Updates ]
Took a step back last weekend 🥲🥲 to think through the current concerns of what every business owner is worried about and decided to make a tough decision amidst growing community concerns over the covid situation, that we will stop and pause our Craft With Love workshops this period till June 13 ⏸⏸⏸ (even though the 2 pax workshop format works for us). External mobile craft workshops that have been committed prior to this announcement will also be postponed. We will extend a no expiry date policy for these changes 🙏🙏
Decided that safety and going conservative this period would be our priority to ensure that we will do our best to keep to a smaller social bubble. Hopefully a month from now, the community cases will go down 🙏🙏
Gift requests will still be on-going and to pay forward the love we have been receiving these almost 6 years of doing what we are doing 😌💕, we will offer back our complimentary gift delivery during this period (usually gift deliveries are only complimentary for purchases above $150) 🚚🚚
Please please take care everyone and here’s sending some sunflower love 🌻 and rainbow cheer 🌈 Let’s stay safe, healthy, take it a day at a time and it’s okay to feel not okay. Maybe it’s times like this we can all take time to draw strength from our deepest roots of rest 🤍🤍🤍
