Stepping into Ichiran Ramen, Dotonbori for that world-famous Tonkotsu. No small talk, no distractionsโ€”just pure flavor concentration in my own private booth.

My "Perfect Bowl" order:
โœ… Firm noodles
โœ… Rich broth
โœ… Extra garlic (always!)
โœ… Half-boiled salted egg on the side

If youโ€™re visiting Osaka, you have to try the ๐—œ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—ฅ๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป experience. It starts at a vending machine and ends in a private wooden booth where your food is served by a pair of hands through a bamboo curtain!

Itโ€™s the perfect spot for solo travelers (or anyone who just wants to eat their noodles in peace). The thin, Hakata-style noodles are incredible, and the "Original Spicy Red Sauce" is a total game-changer.

๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ผ ๐—ง๐—ถ๐—ฝ: Donโ€™t finish your broth too early! Order a "Kae-dama" (noodle refill) by placing your small tray on the sensor at the end of your meal. ๐Ÿ˜‰

A UNESCO World Heritage site located in Gifu Prefecture, is famous for its traditional Gassho-zukuri farmhouses. These iconic wooden houses feature steep thatched roofs designed to withstand the region's heavy snowfall, resembling hands pressed together in prayer.

๐—ง๐—ผ๐—ฝ ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด๐˜€ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐——๐—ผ

๐Ÿ—ป Ogimachi Village: This is the largest village and the main attraction. Wander through the paths to see dozens of well-preserved farmhouses, some of which are over 250 years old.

๐Ÿ”ญ Shiroyama Viewpoint: For the best panoramic view of the entire village, take the shuttle bus or hike up to this observation deck. It is the spot where most of the famous "postcard" photos are taken.

๐Ÿ˜๏ธ Wada-ke and Kanda-ke Houses: These are some of the largest farmhouses open to the public. Inside, you can explore the traditional living quarters and see how silk was once produced in the spacious attics.

โ™จ๏ธShirakawa-go no Yu: After a day of walking, relax in this local hot spring (onsen) that offers views of the surrounding mountains.

๐—•๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜ ๐—ง๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ฒ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ฉ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ถ๐˜

๐ŸŒจ๏ธ Winter (January โ€“ February): The village is at its most magical when covered in thick snow. The annual Winter Light-Up events (which require advance booking) transform the area into a winter wonderland.

๐Ÿ‚ Autumn (October โ€“ November): The surrounding forests turn vibrant shades of red and orange, creating a stunning contrast against the thatched roofs.

๐ŸŒธ Spring (May): Cherry blossoms bloom slightly later here than in Tokyo, usually around late April to early May, accompanied by lush green rice paddies.

1. Access: The easiest way to reach Shirakawa-go is by bus from Takayama (50 mins) or Kanazawa (75 mins). It is recommended to book your bus tickets in advance. Alternatively, there is also daily bus departing from Nagoya (3.50 hours)

2. Stay Overnight: For a unique experience, book a stay at a minshuku (family-run guesthouse) within a farmhouse. Youโ€™ll enjoy traditional home-cooked meals and a quiet atmosphere after the day-trippers leave.

3. Respect Privacy: Remember that many of these farmhouses are private residences. Stay on the designated paths and do not peer into windows.
