Imagine waking up in a private suite as the landscapes of China’s ancient Silk Road unfold outside your window. 🚂

Over 16 days and 15 nights, travel from Chengdu through Xinjiang aboard the Jinxiu Tianfu Panda Train, a luxury hotel on rails complete with panoramic windows, a private bathroom, dedicated butler service and beautifully designed interiors inspired by Sichuan’s Shu brocade.

Wake to sunrise over Hemu Village. Cruise across the clear waters of Kanas Lake. Enjoy afternoon tea beside Sayram Lake, cross the grasslands of Nalati and walk through the red sandstone walls of Kizilya Grand Canyon.

The journey continues across the Pamir Plateau to Tashkurgan and Karakul Lake, before revealing the old trading lanes of Kashgar, the ancient irrigation system of Turpan and an open air concert among the ruins of Jiaohe Ancient City.

Your journey includes 8 nights aboard the train and 7 nights in premium hotels, giving you time to experience remote corners of China without rushing from place to place.

8 departures available from May to October 2027.

The onboard programme is conducted in Mandarin. English guides can be arranged upon request.

Nine days. Four countries technically on the map, three you'll actually feel change beneath your feet.

Meet rescued elephants at a wildlife trust then sleep beside wild ones at a watering hole. Glide through the Okavango Delta in a hand carved canoe. Cross a strip of Namibia most travellers never knew existed. Wake up in the park with more elephants than anywhere else in Africa.

This is the safari for people who want the delta and the falls in the same trip.

Save this for your next big Africa escape.

🇧🇹 Bhutan Festival Calendar 2027: Mark Your Calendar

Planning to visit Bhutan in 2027? Save this post for the dates of some of the kingdom’s most popular festivals.

Bhutanese festivals, known as tshechus, are more than colourful celebrations. They are sacred gatherings where communities come together in their finest traditional dress to receive blessings, watch symbolic masked dances and reconnect with family, faith and tradition.

Expect elaborate costumes, hypnotic Cham dances, playful Atsaras, ancient rituals and courtyards filled with generations of Bhutanese families. At selected festivals, a vast sacred tapestry known as a Thongdrel is unfurled before sunrise. Simply seeing it is believed to bring blessings.

🌸 Popular spring festivals include Punakha Tshechu and Paro Tshechu.

🍂 Popular autumn festivals include Thimphu Tshechu, Wangdue Tshechu, Gangtey Tshechu and Jambay Lhakhang Drup.

🏔️ For something different, consider the Royal Highland Festival in Laya, the Black Necked Crane Festival in Phobjikha or Druk Wangyel Tshechu at Dochula.

A few useful tips for planning your festival trip:

• Book at least six months in advance for major festivals
• Flights and preferred hotels fill quickly
• Arrive early as popular festival grounds can become crowded
• Dress modestly and follow local customs
• Bring layers as mornings can be cool
• Ask your guide about the meaning behind each dance and ritual
• Allow time beyond the festival to explore Bhutan at a slower pace

Travellers are warmly welcomed at Bhutan’s festivals. The experience becomes even more meaningful when you understand that these are living religious traditions, not performances created for visitors.

Which Bhutan festival would you most love to experience? Tell us in the comments, save this calendar for your 2027 travel planning and share it with someone who has Bhutan on their list.

Twelve days. Two countries. One migration that never really stops moving.

Chase the Big Five across the Masai Mara. Cross the border into the Serengeti mid safari. Descend into a volcanic crater older than most civilisations. Then close it all out with elephants walking beneath Kilimanjaro.

This is East Africa built for people who want more than a photo of a lion from far away.

Save this for the safari you keep talking about booking.

Kazakhstan is about to become much easier to reach from Singapore ✈️🇰🇿
From 20 October 2026, S**T Airlines will operate flights between Singapore and Shymkent twice a week using a Boeing 737 MAX 8.

Here is what you need to know before planning your trip:

✈️ THE FLIGHT
• Singapore to Shymkent via Sanya, China
• Allow about 12 to 13 hours for the full journey
• This is a direct service, but it is not nonstop
• Passengers are expected to remain within the secure transit area in Sanya
• Confirm the final transit and baggage arrangements with S**T Airlines before departure

📍 WHY VISIT SHYMKENT?
Shymkent is more than 2,200 years old and was once an important stop along the Silk Road. It is known for its markets, food culture, green parks and warmer climate.

Save these places for your visit:
• Shymkent Citadel
• Qyrgy Bazaar
• Arbat walking street
• Shymkent Dendropark
• Local restaurants serving plov, samsa, shashlik and baursak

🚗 EASY TRIPS FROM SHYMKENT
• Turkistan: about 2 to 2½ hours by road
• Aksu Zhabagly Nature Reserve: about 2 to 3 hours
• Sayram Ugam National Park: about 1½ to 2½ hours

✈️ CONTINUING AROUND KAZAKHSTAN
Shymkent to Almaty:
• Flight: about 1 hour 15 minutes
• Drive: about 8½ to 10½ hours

Shymkent to Astana:
• Flight: about 1 hour 45 minutes
• Drive: about 16 to 21 hours

For a comfortable first trip, allow 6 to 8 days for Shymkent, Turkistan and the surrounding nature. Add Almaty if you have 8 to 10 days. With 11 to 14 days, you can include Astana too.

Singapore passport holders currently enjoy visa free entry to Kazakhstan for up to 30 days. Entry requirements can change, so check the latest visa and QazETA information before travelling.

Save this guide for your Kazakhstan plans and share it with someone who would love to explore Central Asia with you.

Start in Changsha with 2,000 year old museum treasures and the halls of Yuelu Academy, then ride the world's longest cable car to Heaven's Gate on Tianmen Mountain. Stand before the sandstone pillars that inspired Avatar at Yuanjiajie, shoot up the world's tallest outdoor elevator and follow Golden Whip Stream past wild macaques. Sail an underground river through Yellow Dragon Cave, wander the waterfall town of Furong and end by lantern light on the Tuojiang River in Fenghuang.

Some films end when the credits roll. “Dear You” makes you want to trace where the story began. 🎬

Chaoshan is not a single city. It is a cultural region shaped by Chaozhou, Shantou and Jieyang, each with its own stories, flavours and traditions.

At the heart of the film are qiaopi, letters and remittance records that once connected migrants overseas with their families back home. These were more than pieces of paper. They carried love, responsibility, longing and proof that someone far away was still thinking of home.

Beyond the film, Chaoshan is a place best experienced slowly.

Sit down for gongfu tea. Wander through ancient streets and ancestral halls. Look closely at the intricate woodcarvings and porcelain inlay. Come hungry for beef hotpot, braised goose, oyster omelette and kueh.

Watch the film. Then walk into the story.

Kazakhstan is breathtaking, but it is not always the easiest destination to explore independently. 🇰🇿

The places that look close on a map can require hours of driving. English may be limited outside the city, internet can disappear in remote areas, and reaching mountain lakes or canyons may require the right vehicle and local knowledge.
A little preparation makes a huge difference.

Download 2GIS for offline maps, use Yandex Go for taxis, save Russian and Kazakh on Google Translate, and keep important addresses and contact details on your phone.

Booking a tour is still the easiest and most comfortable way to experience Kazakhstan. Your transport, routes, local guidance and backup plans are taken care of, leaving you more time to enjoy the landscapes, stories and moments that brought you there.

Save this post for your Kazakhstan trip and share it with your travel companion. ✈️

Stand over Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the deepest canyons on earth, then climb to the golden roofs of Songzanlin Monastery and share tea with a Tibetan family.

One province. Four worlds.
