GEYLANG RED-LIGHT DISTRICT WALKING TOUR
Thurs, 31st July 2025
7pm to 10pm

For those on a tighter schedule ‒ or who prefer a shorter, more concise experience ‒ this compressed version of our signature Geylang Red-Light District walk is for you.

Covering the stretch from Lorong 12 to Lorong 18, this evening tour keeps the core of the original itinerary, but with less narration and more time for personal exploration once the tour ends.

We’ll meet at 7:00pm at Aljunied MRT (next to Sichuan Chef), and wrap up by 9:30pm or 10:00pm at the latest ‒ giving you plenty of time to catch the train home or further explore the area on your own.

Led by your ole Uncle Chris, this walk promises to be insightful, direct, and thought-provoking. We’ll talk openly about the realities of Geylang’s adult industry, the difference between “cheap s*x” and “high-class scandals,” and even explore how encounters between client and worker play out behind the scenes ‒ no sugar-coating, no judgement.

Expect a raw, honest look at a topic that many shy away from, but which has long been a part of Singapore’s social fabric.

This is an adult-themed tour, intended for those who are open-minded and mature. Some terms and stories may be explicit or graphic, and the tour is not suitable for children.

Please wear comfortable walking shoes, dress for warm weather, and bring an umbrella in case it rains ‒ the atmosphere under a drizzle adds a certain mystique to this walk.

Meeting Point: Aljunied MRT, next to Sichuan Chef.
Date & Time: Thursday, 31 July 2025, at 7:00pm sharp.

Come for the walk ‒ stay for the stories you won’t hear anywhere else.

BEACH ROAD HERITAGE WALK
Sun, 27th July 2025
9am to 11.30am

Once part of Singapore’s exclusive European Town, Beach Road was where only the wealthy elite could afford to live. Under Raffles’ Town Plan, ethnic communities were carefully segregated ‒ if you were Asian and working class, this area wasn’t for you. You were more likely to be found in Chinatown, Kampong Glam, or Little India.

Back then, the beach came right up to the road, and just 20 colonial seaside homes lined the shore ‒ luxurious residences reserved for the privileged few. Beach Road was elegant, stylish, and worlds apart from the bustling life along the Singapore River.

Today, very little remains to remind us of that coastal past. The sea has long since retreated, and skyscrapers have taken its place. But hidden among the modern buildings are stories waiting to be uncovered ‒ of seaside villas, early cinemas, and a way of life long gone.

Join Uncle Chris for a scenic heritage walk along the old beachfront. We'll explore how Beach Road has evolved ‒ from the landing of early immigrants to the rise of Singapore’s first few cinemas, which once catered exclusively to the rich. We'll uncover how this stretch, now surrounded by commercial offices, still holds whispers of its elite, colonial past.

This isn’t just another urban walk ‒ it’s a journey through layers of history, hidden in plain sight. Discover what most people miss as we read between the lines, peek into forgotten corners, and bring the past back to life.

We meet at City Hall MRT at 9:00am sharp on Sunday, 27 July 2025. Depending on the group’s pace and energy, we’ll end the tour around Golden Mile or Crawford Street, likely by 11:30am or noon.

Come with good walking shoes, a curious mind, and a love for stories that have shaped our city.

Let’s rediscover Beach Road ‒ where the beach once kissed the doorstep of colonial grandeur.

NEE SOON VILLAGE WALKING TOUR
Sat, 26th July 2025
9am to 12pm

Tucked away in Singapore’s North, Nee Soon Village is a place few have taken seriously ‒ until now. Often overlooked and thought of as a sleepy outpost, this area is quietly experiencing a revival, and it’s time you got to know it.

Join Uncle Chris for a rustic and heartfelt walk through his old hometown ‒ a place once forgotten, now slowly rediscovered.

With the opening of Springleaf MRT, Nee Soon Village has begun to stir from its slumber. New eateries are springing up across the neighbourhood, breathing life into this quiet corner of Singapore. Yet, side by side with the new, the old still stands strong.

We’ll visit time-honoured favourites like Ngee Fou Ampang Yong Tau Foo, a family-run spot that’s been serving locals for decades. They were ‒ and still are ‒ my neighbours. Their story, like many here, is one of patience, perseverance, and pride.

In the 1970s, the landed homes around Springleaf were so undervalued they couldn’t be sold. Nobody believed the North had a future. But today, those very same homes are worth a small fortune. What a turnaround!

This walking tour is more than a stroll ‒ it’s a step back in time to a place where kampong spirit still lingers. Discover the history, culture and quiet charm of Nee Soon Village before it changes for good.

We meet at Springleaf MRT (Exit 2) at 9:00am sharp on Saturday, 26 July 2025. The tour will end back at the same station by around 11:30am, just before the lunch crowds roll in.

Come for the stories, stay for the soul of a village that’s finally having its moment.

GEYLANG RED-LIGHT DISTRICT WALKING TOUR
Thurs, 24th July 2025
7pm to 11pm

This is the full-length, updated version of Singapore’s most talked-about red-light district tour ‒ and we’re calling it the Mother of all Red-Light District Walks.

Join Uncle Chris for a bold and honest look into one of Singapore’s most intriguing neighbourhoods. From Lorong 12 to Lorong 24A, we’ll take you deep into Geylang’s colourful underbelly ‒ a place that’s both confronting and fascinating in equal measure.

This is not just a walk down Geylang’s neon-lit lanes ‒ it’s a no-holds-barred exploration of the realities behind the red lights. We’ll talk openly about the s*x industry, from “cheap thrills” to “high-end scandals”, and everything in between. Expect raw truths, honest insights, and some uncomfortable but important discussions.

We’ll explore how s*x work functions in Singapore ‒ who’s involved, what’s changing, and why Geylang is experiencing a quiet reawakening. If you’ve ever been curious about what goes on behind closed doors, this is your chance to learn ‒ not as a customer, but as a respectful observer.

This tour is highly adult in nature, and may not be suitable for everyone. You’ll need to come with an open mind. Some content and terms used may be explicit, but nothing will be sensationalised. We’re here to inform, not to judge.

We’ll meet at Aljunied MRT station (next to Sichuan Chef) at 7:00pm sharp on Thursday, 24 July 2025. The walk will end by 11:00pm, giving everyone enough time to catch the train home.

Important notes:

This is a fairly long walking tour, so please wear comfortable shoes and light clothing.

Bring an umbrella ‒ Geylang in the rain has a certain magic!

This version is designed with a young, local audience in mind. If you’re a visiting tourist, you may wish to join the shorter, weather-friendly version on 31 July 2025.

Come curious. Leave informed. Walk with respect.

QUEENSTOWN HERITAGE TRAIL: FORFAR HEIGHTS, DAWSON ROAD & MARGARET DRIVE
Sun, 19th July 2025
9am to 11.30am

Queenstown is Singapore’s very first satellite town, developed by the Singapore Improvement Trust (SIT) to house a growing population. Today, this once-humble neighbourhood is seeing a dramatic transformation - with a recent 5-room flat near Dawson Road fetching an eye-watering $1.7 million!

Join Uncle Chris on a guided walk through this historic yet fast-changing estate. We’ll explore why Queenstown is now one of the city’s most sought-after addresses.

Our journey begins with Margaret Drive, where we’ll admire the bold new HDB skyscrapers that seem to stretch into the clouds. Rumour has it, residents here are already receiving generous offers for their homes. There’s something undeniably charming about Margaret Drive -a warmth that makes it feel like home the moment you arrive.

If the group agrees, we’ll take the lift up to one of the highest floors for a breathtaking bird’s-eye view. You’ll see why so many are drawn to live here - the landscape, the air, and yes, even the property prices will leave you in awe.

From there, we’ll take a short walk to nearby Ridout and Pierce Roads ‒ a completely different world of quiet luxury. Here, we’ll uncover the history behind Singapore’s iconic Black & White bungalows and other colonial-era homes. Nestled among lush greenery, these grand residences speak of a time gone by, yet still radiate elegance and exclusivity today.

Whether it’s a modest HDB flat or a grand colonial bungalow, Queenstown has a unique charm that continues to evolve while holding on to its rich heritage.

We meet at 9:00am sharp at Queenstown MRT station. Please take Exit B on your left, go downstairs, and gather at Taxi Stand F44. Look out for me ‒ I’ll be wearing my Tourist Guide badge.

The tour will conclude near the junction of Holland Road and Pierce Road, by around 11:30am or 12:00pm.

Come curious. Leave inspired. This is not just a walk through Queenstown ‒ it’s a journey through time, space, and Singapore’s ever-changing landscape.

HAWKINS ROAD: A VIETNAMESE BOAT PEOPLE MEMORIAL WALK
Sun, 13th July 2025
9am to 12pm

Most of us think of Vietnam as a great holiday destination - vibrant, scenic, full of adventure. But for those who remember the Vietnam War, especially the baby boomer generation, “Vietnam” also brings back memories of struggle, loss, and resilience.

This special walk honours one of the most poignant chapters in Southeast Asian history - the Vietnamese Boat People. After the fall of Saigon in 1975, thousands fled Vietnam by sea in search of safety. Some of them landed right here in Singapore, at a place called Hawkins Road.

Hawkins Road no longer exists, but its story deserves to be remembered. Between 1975 and 1996, it was home to a refugee camp that became known as one of the most welcoming in the region. Volunteers brought comfort, care, and even joy to the displaced ‒ organising trips to the zoo and visits to nearby Chong Pang Village.

Many of those who passed through Hawkins Road still speak fondly of Singapore. Some even returned years later, choosing to settle here and raise their families.

Join Uncle Chris on a heartfelt journey as we revisit the site where the camp once stood. Together, we’ll walk through the surrounding area, reflect on the stories of courage and survival, and pay tribute to the lives touched by this forgotten chapter of our shared past.

We meet at 9:00am at Sembawang MRT station. From there, we’ll take bus service 856 to the former site of Hawkins Road. The walk will end around 11:30am or 12:00pm at View Road.

This is a walk of remembrance, education, and empathy. It’s a chance to hear stories that may have been overlooked - stories that still matter deeply today.

Note: If you or your family were among the Boat People, we warmly welcome you to join us. Your presence would mean a lot.

Come with open hearts. Walk with us through history.

KEONG SAIK, JAPANESE ST & FLANDERS SQUARE RED-LIGHT DISTRICT WALK
Sat, 12th July 2025
9am to 1pm

Join me, Uncle Chris, on a unique walking tour through Singapore’s historic red-light districts ‒ from Keong Saik Road to Flanders Square. This is not just a walk through time, but a deep dive into the evolution of Singapore’s s*x industry, and a respectful look at the lives of those working in it today.

This tour isn’t just about history. We’ll explore the contrast between today’s professional s*x workers and the more vulnerable street-based workers. It’s a walk that brings out the realities of marginalised lives, shedding light on both hardship and resilience.

You’ll hear how the first shipload of s*x workers arrived in Singapore, and how the industry has evolved into today’s digital age. Along the way, we’ll pass former brothels that have since shut down – and others that have recently reopened, particularly around Petain Road and Flanders Square, known locally as “Kin Chio Kar.”

This is an adult-themed, no-nonsense walk - thought-provoking, informative, and respectful. For the ladies joining us, it’s a rare opportunity to glimpse into a world often misunderstood, right where it unfolds.

The tour begins at the coffee shop at the junction of Neil Road and Keong Saik Road. Please bring your MRT card - we’ll be taking the train to Farrer Park station before continuing on foot. Be prepared for a fairly long walk, so do consider your comfort and fitness level before signing up.

Important: This tour is not suitable for children. Please join with an open mind and a respectful heart.

I’ll be having lunch after the tour at 22 Flanders Square, now a Japanese restaurant. This site was once the scene of a tragic, unsolved murder. Coco Ng, a s*x worker known in the area, was killed here in 2008. Her case remains open.

So if you’re up for a raw and real look at a side of Singapore many don’t talk about - come along. This is an honest walk, full of stories that deserve to be heard.

TAI SENG VILLAGE WALKING TOUR
Sun, 29th June 2025
9am to 12pm

Tai Seng Village might not be on the usual walking tour radar, but it holds a rich and fascinating history that’s worth uncovering. Known affectionately as "Tai Seng," this unassuming area has a past steeped in agriculture, crime, and transformation.

Like many early kampongs, Tai Seng was once a quiet village where farming was the main livelihood. It was part of the larger Perseverance Estate, where nutmeg and gambier were cultivated before transitioning to self-sustaining farms and later, large-scale lemongrass farming. The majority of the residents were Teochews, which is why Tai Seng was sometimes called "Charn Mau Herng."

However, Tai Seng’s story takes a darker turn. From the 1940s, poverty led to an increase in crime, with gangsters and secret societies gaining influence. The construction of Paya Lebar Airport in the 1950s added further tension to the area, but it wasn’t long before Tai Seng began to evolve. With the airport firmly established, the landscape shifted towards commerce and industrialisation, marking the beginning of a new era.

From its humble farming roots to its days as a hotbed of crime, Tai Seng’s transformation into a business hub is truly a “rags to riches” tale. Today, companies like DHL and BreadTalk call Tai Seng home, ensuring its place in Singapore’s modern history.

I invite you to join me for a walk through the evolving Tai Seng, where we’ll explore how this village blossomed from its gritty past to become the bustling commercial centre it is today.

Tour Details:
Date & Time: Sun, 29th June 2025, 9am
Meeting Point: Tai Seng MRT Station, Exit C (towards 18, Tai Seng). Take the escalator up to street level, and I’ll be waiting next to Hawker Chan, right opposite Tim Ho Wan. Look for my Tourist Guide Badge.

This tour will end at a charming, old-fashioned bakery where you can indulge in their famous homemade coconut buns—you won’t want to miss it!

Come and discover the hidden history of Tai Seng, and experience how a humble village became an integral part of Singapore’s story. I look forward to walking through history with you!

“I WANT TO BE A TOURIST GUIDE” WALKING TOUR
Sat, 28th June 2025
9am to 11am

Ever wondered what it’s really like to be a Tourist Guide in Singapore? The road to becoming a licensed guide isn’t an easy one—it’s physically demanding, involves a lot of research, and yes, you’ll need to do plenty of reading. But don’t be discouraged! When approached with the right mindset, it can be an incredibly fun and rewarding journey.

Once you’ve earned your license, you can choose your specialisation: Nature, Cultural, or Heritage Guide. But no matter which path you take, one thing is certain – being a Tourist Guide is more than just showing tourists around for a few hours.

With the rise of digital technology, today’s guides are increasingly connected to both local and international visitors, making it a dynamic and ongoing role.

For retired uncles and aunties, it’s a fantastic retirement career or hobby. For the young, or young at heart, it’s a perfect way to explore Singapore’s rich history while sharing your passion with others.

I’d like to invite you to join me for a tour that’ll give you a taste of the life of a Tourist Guide. On Sat, 28th June 2025, at 9am, we’ll meet at Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station. After alighting, take Exit B and head towards Orchard Road/Penang Road street level. I am easily recognised by my Tourist Guide badge.

Together, we’ll dive into the challenges and rewards of guiding, using Fort Canning Park as our starting point. Fort Canning is not only a historic gem but also a popular site for guide assessments, so it’s the perfect place to begin our journey.

This tour is specifically designed for Tourist Guide trainees, but of course, visiting tourists – local or international – are also more than welcome to join in!

Whether you’re thinking about becoming a Tourist Guide or are simply curious about the profession, this is an excellent chance to get a glimpse of what it takes. See you there!

GEYLANG RED-LIGHT DISTRICT WALKING TOUR
Thurs, 26th June 2025
7pm to 10pm

This is a provocative walk-through Singapore’s hidden history. It i’s a tour perfect for those on a tight schedule or those who prefer a quicker, more condensed experience. We’ll cover the same route from Lorong 12 to Lorong 18, but with less narration, leaving you more time for independent exploration after the tour.

This tour is led by your ole Uncle Chris, who will do his best to offer an informative, engaging, and (dare we say) educational look at a sensitive and intimate subject. We’ll explore the often-hidden world of the area, delving into the difference between “cheap s*x” and “high-class scandals.”

And yes, we’ll even touch on the fascinating details of how a pr******te might ‘handle’ you if you ever found yourself in that situation. We’ll walk the streets from Lorong 12 to Lorong 18, discussing the area’s dark history and the stories hidden in plain sight.

Please note, this is an adult-themed walking tour, and it’s not for everyone. Open minds and a level of comfort with explicit language are essential, as some of the terms we’ll discuss may be graphic and adult in nature.

After the tour, you’ll have time to explore the community on your own before heading back to Aljunied MRT to catch your train home.

We meet at Aljunied MRT, 7pm on Thurs, 26th June 2025 (just next to Sichuan Chef). Go right after exiting the MRT gate.

If you're up for a thought-provoking and unfiltered exploration, I look forward to seeing you there!

PUNGGOL VILLAGE HERITAGE TRAIL
Sun, 21st June 2025
9am to 12pm

Once, "Punggol" was simply the name of the long, winding road that led to the famous seafood haven. For many, it was synonymous with one thing: seafood. But for most baby boomers, the history, culture, and heritage of Punggol were largely overlooked. From humble attap huts to zinc-roofed “sar lee chu” houses, and now, the modern, digital community we see today, Punggol has undergone an incredible transformation.

But did you know that not long ago, Punggol was a vibrant kampung? A place where pig farms, poultry, and vegetable gardens were part of daily life. The "Matilda House," once an iconic landmark, has also faded into the background. There are forgotten colonial houses and hidden stories that have never been properly documented.

Join me on this journey through time as we rediscover the Punggol of the past, where history, heritage, and memories collide. Together, we’ll walk through the streets and uncover the long-lost beauty of a place most of us have forgotten.

Date & Time: Sat, 21st June 2025, 9am
Meeting Point: Punggol Coast MRT Station, Exit 2. Meet me at Toastbox on the ground floor.

Note: We may include a visit to Coney Island – stay tuned for updates after my research and dry run. And of course, Punggol’s riverfront and digital community are certainly a highlight, but we'll also explore the stories that have shaped this remarkable area.

A Special Note for Repeat Tour-goers:
If you joined Uncle Chris on last year’s tour, you’ll want to return this year. The pace of change in Punggol has been nothing short of extraordinary – what you saw last year may already be a thing of the past!

Come along, and let’s walk through history together. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to see Punggol like never before.

GEYLANG RED-LIGHT DISTRICT WALKING TOUR
Thurs, 19th June 2025
7pm to 11pm

Join us for the ultimate Red-Light District Walking Tour in Singapore, featuring the latest updates and insights. We will gather at 7pm and conclude by 11pm, allowing ample time to reach Aljunied MRT for your journey home.

Your guide, Uncle Chris, is committed to providing an informative and educational experience on this sensitive and intimate subject. With Uncle Chris, we tackle taboo topics head-on.

During the tour, we will explore the distinctions between "cheap s*x" and "high-class scandals." We will also discuss how a pr******te might interact with you, should you find yourself in the role of a "customer". Uncle Chris will not shy away from the unvarnished truth.

Our walk will take us from Lorong 12 to Lorong 24A, traversing a vibrant area that is experiencing a renaissance. This tour is not only enlightening but also serves as a valuable discussion point for young adults on a topic that many parents find challenging to address.

Please be advised that this is a highly adult-oriented walking tour and may not be suitable for everyone. An open mind is essential, as some of the language used may be explicit and graphic.
