The Walking Journey of Hajj
A journey not only of distance, but of sacrifice, patience, and total submission to Allah.
From the sacred grounds of Masjid al-Haram to the plains of Arafat, every step taken by the hujjaj carries deep meaning and spiritual lessons.
The Sacred Journey
🕋 Makkah → Mina (Approx. 7km)
Pilgrims begin with humility and intention. Mina is known as the “City of Tents,” where millions gather as equals before Allah.
🤍 Mina → Arafah (Approx. 13km)
The most important day of Hajj. The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Hajj is Arafah.”
This is the day of forgiveness, tears, dua, and hope in Allah’s mercy.
🌙 Arafah → Muzdalifah (Approx. 9km)
After sunset, pilgrims journey calmly to Muzdalifah under the open sky, collecting pebbles and spending the night remembering Allah.
🪨 Muzdalifah → Jamarat, Mina (Approx. 4km)
Pilgrims perform the symbolic stoning of the jamarat, following the legacy of Prophet Ibrahim عليه السلام in rejecting Shaytan and obeying Allah completely.
Lessons from the Journey
* Patience in hardship
* Unity of the Ummah
* Simplicity and humility
* Reliance upon Allah
* Sacrifice for the sake of faith
Every kilometre walked during Hajj is filled with dhikr, dua, exhaustion, tears, and reward. What may look like a physical journey is truly a journey of the heart back to Allah.
“And proclaim to the people the Hajj; they will come to you on foot and on every lean camel from every distant pass.”
— Surah Al-Hajj, 22:27
May Allah grant every believer the opportunity to witness these sacred lands and accept the Hajj of all hujjaj. 🤍
