🌿 Into the Wild, with World-Class Hospitality 🌿

The SHATEC Class of Sep 2024 full-time trainees were off on yet another adventure — this time into the heart of nature, where luxury and sustainability go hand in hand. Their latest learning journey brought them to the stunning Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree, accompanied by our trainers and support staff.

From the moment we were welcomed by the gracious HR team, Eileen Ang and Amelia Wan, the experience unfolded like no other. At the heart of this architectural marvel lies a powerful commitment to sustainability — with naturally ventilated public spaces that redefine eco-conscious luxury.

🍽️ At Forage, the resort’s signature restaurant, trainees discovered the story behind the famed “Trust the Chef” menu, where fresh ingredients are harvested straight from the rooftop edible garden. Over at Planter’s Shed, all-day dining takes on a thoughtful twist with local and international flavours curated to delight.

👨‍🍳 Behind the scenes, we were treated to a rare glimpse of the culinary team in action during the lunch rush — a masterclass in precision and professionalism. From the vibrant kids' club to the elegant Banyan Tree gallery, the tour revealed a full spectrum of guest-centric amenities and elevated design thinking.

🌱 Sustainability was a thread woven into every detail — from eco-friendly building practices to the conscious guest experiences that reflect the brand's ethos.

Though room viewings were off the cards due to full occupancy (a testament to the resort’s popularity!), the tour ended on a high with panoramic rooftop views, a lively Q&A and a warm round of refreshments.

We are deeply thankful to the Mandai Rainforest Resort team for opening their doors and sharing their passion. Our aspiring hospitality professionals left inspired, informed, and eager to one day be part of such a dynamic and forward-thinking team.

More than just a training restaurant, The Sapling was a place of growth, learning, and transformation. It was where students took their first steps in the industry, where trainers guided with unwavering dedication and where guests played an integral role in shaping the learning experience.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲'𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆, we're celebrating love with 𝗦𝗛𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗖 𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗵𝘂𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮, who recently tied the knot! 💍

Their beautiful journey began in 2013 at SHATEC, where they first met during orientation for the Diploma in Hotel Management programme. Although they were both introverted and didn’t speak much in their first year, everything changed during their second year when a group project—resembling The Amazing Race across Singapore—brought them together.

What started as teamwork soon blossomed into endless conversations and a love story that has grown stronger with time. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻, 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗵𝘂𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮! 💕
