A very jolly World Express Christmas! 🎄🌟

Recently, we held our Annual Christmas Lunch at World Express headquarters last week; our entire office was transformed into a festive extravaganza to host our hotel and industry partners.

The gathering opened with addresses by Managing Director Darren Tan and Chairman Tan Chee Chye, who reflected on key highlights from the year and shared perspectives that set an optimistic tone for the year ahead. Guests enjoyed a generous spread featuring live stations, serving both traditional Christmas fare and local favourites, carols filling the room, and time set aside for networking and conversation. The gathering reflected what we value most — collaboration, relationships, and shared moments. This annual tradition continues to be a highlight we look forward to each year.

World Express was recently invited by the Singapore Tourism Board to speak at the 3rd Thailand–Singapore Cruise Development Taskforce Meeting, held at Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree on November 13. Our Managing Director, Darren Tan, joined a panel of esteemed speakers from across the cruise and tourism sectors, as well as bodies like Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), at the “Sustainability in Cruise” Workshop. The session offered valuable insights into how global sustainability standards and best practices can be applied within cruise development.

We appreciated the opportunity to engage with our Thai counterparts and share about our very own GSTC-journey, as well as exchange perspectives on advancing responsible and sustainable cruise tourism. The discussions reinforced the importance of alignment across government agencies, international bodies, cruise lines, and tour operators — all contributing to the same interconnected ecosystem. We remain committed to supporting this collaborative effort and strengthening sustainable practices within the industry. 🚢⭐

We’re proud to share that World Express is now officially GSTC-certified, becoming one of the first five DMCs in Singapore to receive this internationally recognised accreditation. This milestone, following our 2024 brand refresh, reflects our deep and ongoing commitment to advancing a more sustainable, resilient, and environmentally responsible tourism industry.

This achievement was made possible by the dedication of our passionate team —who collaborated across departments to redesign internal systems, reduce environmental impact, and align our operations with global best practices in sustainable tourism. The certification process, conducted by accredited body Vireo Srl, marked the culmination of several months of organisational transformation, supported by the expert guidance of sustainability consultant Ailynn Seah (The Lumiere Consultancy).

Looking ahead, we’re actively curating a new suite of sustainability-focused experiences, including nature-immersive activities, and community-led programmes that champion local impact. The GSTC certification is not a final destination—but a catalyst for deeper change, as we continue to shape travel that is not only memorable, but meaningful and sustainable.

As part of our ongoing sustainability efforts, the World Express Sustainability Committee recently took part in a meaningful volunteer session at City Sprouts, an inspiring social enterprise and urban farm located in Henderson.

Our team had the opportunity to get hands-on in the gardens, learning about the cultivation of local produce and the farm’s unique farm-to-table practices. The session also offered valuable insights into how underutilised urban spaces in Singapore can be transformed into vibrant, community-driven green hubs. We even got to visit the on-site chicken coop and saw how the farm integrates educational and agricultural experiences into one. It was a pleasure to have our Sustainability Consultant, Ailynn Seah, join us as well!

Thank you City Sprouts for your warm hospitality. It was insightful time learning about the work done to promote sustainable living in Singapore. Definitely a rewarding experience that reminded us of the value of reconnecting with nature, community, and purposeful action.

World Express recently had the pleasure of hosting a FAM trip for a group of BTMICE planners from Germany and Switzerland — offering them a deeper understanding of Singapore’s unique blend of culture, cuisine, and world-class infrastructure.

This meaningful experience was made possible in collaboration with the invaluable support of Singapore Tourism Board and Mandarin Oriental, Singapore.

Over the course of the trip, guests were treated to a wide-ranging programme designed to showcase the many facets of Singapore as a MICE destination. Kicking off with a rejuvenating sound bath session at Mandarin Oriental and a scenic river cruise, to a guided tour of Gardens by the Bay, the itinerary balanced wellness, exploration, and local sights.

At Faber Peak, guests took a cable car ride and explored beautifully set venues with panoramic views and enjoyed a creatively presented “Taste of Singapore Flavours” lunch by the Mount Faber Leisure Group.

The experience continued with a memorable Evening in the Wild, where cocktails were served in the company of some special animal ambassadors — hosted by Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS).

Authentic local moments were woven throughout the programme — riding the MRT, discovering the vibrant streets of Kampong Glam, enjoying hawker favourites, and sampling traditional treats - like Chinese egg tarts, coconut drinks and local coffee - during a cultural discovery tour. The journey concluded with a warm and personal Peranakan private home dining experience hosted by World Express, offering a heartfelt glimpse into Singaporean heritage.

At World Express, we recently completed a full-day training session to deepen our understanding of the GSTC certification process and what sustainability truly means for us as a Destination Management Company.

Our sincere thanks to our sustainability consultant Ailynn Seah from The Lumiere Consultancy for coordinating this impactful program, and to our trainer of the day, Dr Nisha Abu Bakar for delivering an insightful and engaging workshop on sustainable tourism principles to our team.

We also appreciated the inspiring session by Vincent Teo, from local enterprise City Sprouts, who shared how they transform underutilised urban spaces into vibrant, sustainable community hubs in Singapore.

We’re grateful to Fairmont Singapore & Swissôtel The Stamford for providing a conducive training space and warm hospitality throughout the day. A special thank you to Julia Lim, Senior Director of Marketing, for sharing their hotels’ GSTC journey and sustainability initiatives, offering a practical perspective from the hospitality industry.

🎄✨ Spreading Holiday Cheer at World Express' Christmas Lunch!

This week, our office was filled with festive joy as we hosted our annual Christmas Lunch for our valued hotel partners and industry friends. It was a heartwarming afternoon where we sang carols together, filling the air with holiday spirit... Indulged in a delicious buffet spread featuring local fare as well as festive favorites and live cooking stations... and shared stories, laughter, and joy.

As the year draws to a close, we reflect on some of the milestones that made 2024 a memorable one for us at World Express. From celebrating our company's 55th year anniversary, unveiling a refreshed brand identity and chapter, to winning Best Destination Management Company (Asia) for another consecutive year at the M&C Asia Stella Awards - it has been a rewarding and eventful year.

The holiday season is all about gratitude, togetherness, and celebration. We're so thankful to have such wonderful partners and friends to share this joyous occasion with.
