The weather certainly reminded us that summer has arrived in Singapore, with very warm and humid conditions greeting participants at West Coast Park last Saturday morning. Despite the challenging conditions, 136 people ran, jogged and walked the course, proving once again that parkrunners are made of hardy stuff!

We were delighted to welcome 14 first timers to West Coast Park parkrun, including visitors from Sandgate parkrun in Brisbane completing their compass challenge! while 14 participants recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives from 6 different clubs joined us for another enjoyable morning by the coast.

With the heat and humidity making PBs harder to come by, congratulations to everyone who completed the course. Whether you were chasing a time, enjoying a social walk with friends, or simply getting some exercise before the day warmed up even further, every finish was an achievement.

A huge thank you to our 13 wonderful volunteers who made the event possible:

Agnieszka BANAS • Peter YUNG-HOK • Anna GOWANLOCK • Ben KIGGELL • Justine CAMPBELL • Jiamin XU • Keiko KIMURA • Jamie MORRISON • Niki PERRYMAN • Jonathan MCLEAN • Andrew BEDFORD • Mike HULSE • Mei TROLL

As always, parkrun only happens because of volunteers. If you’d like to experience parkrun from the other side of the finish funnel, we’d love to welcome you to the volunteer team in the coming weeks.

This coming Saturday, 30th May, we are holding our monthly pacer event at West Coast Park parkrun. There will be pacers for a variety of paces between 20 and 35 minutes.

Pacers will be wearing a designated colour this Saturday and the pacers will aim to complete the course, trying to maintain a consistent pace throughout. This gives other parkrunners aiming for the same time a guide to follow.

Most people follow a pacer to try for a PB. However if you are recovering or tapering and need to take it easy, it is also possible to follow a pacer to stop yourself going too fast.

For future events, if you would like to be a pacer volunteer or be paced for a specific time please:

For Pacers:
1. choose a time you can achieve at a comfortable, consistent pace - probably a couple of minutes slower than your normal parkrun time. (Remember: ‘if you want a PB follow the pacer, don’t be the pacer.’)

2. email [email protected] with your name, barcode number and the time you would like to pace and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

For those wanting to be paced:

1. Choose a specific time and we’ll look to pair you up with a pacer for the target time for the upcoming event.

Pacers receive both a run credit and a volunteer credit.

Blue skies and sunshine greeted the 155 participants at parkrun number 383 at West Coast Park. We welcomed 22 first timers and a number of tourists. Our tourists were visiting from Melbourne, the UK, and The Philippines. The event saw 14 new Personal Bests among the participants.

We celebrated a number of milestones today including 25ths for Darren Tay and Yiyong Liang; 50ths for Takaharu Kurokawa, Thad Cobb, and Zhixian Li; and a 50th Volunteer for Sara Booysen! The event could not have happened without our 15 volunteers for making this event possible, including:

Matthew BROWN • Agnieszka BANAS • Robert TROLL • Taran RITCHIE • Keiko KIMURA • Lee ROBERTS • Jamie MORRISON • Niki PERRYMAN • Jonathan MCLEAN • Hp GUO • Runzhan GUO • Yun Qin Melody LEONG • Albert GUO • Catriona BAXTER • Mei TROLL

Parkrun is relies on the strength of its volunteer community. We are looking for volunteers for events thru June, so if you would like to volunteer, please check our future roster at https://www.parkrun.sg/westcoastpark/futureroster/ and drop us an email at [email protected] to let us know which role you’d like to try. West Coast Park parkrun #382 - 16th May 2026

We had wild weather this weekend – thankfully we threaded the needle between thunderstorms and didn’t have to cancel. It was pretty wet for some of us, though!

Bravo to the 14 people who did their first parkrun – most weeks have much better weather, so come back next Saturday! We also had visitors from Brisbane and Hobart in Australia, Toronto, Germany, Rugby in the UK, and Wales. Thanks for joining us!

Congratulations to Ching Pin Ooi and HP Guo, who each ran their 25th parkrun! This week 92 people ran and 8 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 10 different clubs took part.

Thanks as always to our volunteers, who make our weekly events possible:

Iain MANSON • Becky SMART • Krzysztof BANAS • Agnieszka BANAS • Claire HABERER • Peter YUNG-HOK • Ceridwen WHEELER • Oliver WATSON • Lee ROBERTS • Tim GROOMBRIDGE • Leah HABERER • Jamie MORRISON • Niki PERRYMAN • Takaharu KUROKAWA • Jamie MUNCER

West Coast Parkrun #381

What a fantastic morning we had for event #381! Singapore decided to remind us who’s boss this weekend, serving up around 90% humidity and some seriously sticky conditions. 🥵🌴 It may have been hot and humid, but that didn’t stop 135 runners and walkers from getting out there and earning their weekend breakfast.

This week we welcomed 24 first timers to West Coast parkrun and celebrated an impressive 20 new PBs — which honestly feels even more impressive given the weather!

We were also delighted to host parkrun tourists from Nottingham, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Chesterfield, London, and Indonesia. 🌍 Thank you for joining us and experiencing Singapore parkrun at its most sweatiest and spirited.

A huge congratulations as well to Bradley Jones and Ardan Ryan, who both celebrated their 50th parkrun milestones this weekend! 👏🎉 Amazing achievement — and a great excuse for extra applause at the briefing.

As always, the event could not happen without our incredible volunteers:

💛 Sarah BOOYSEN, Edward CULLIGAN, Dylan MAIR, Hyeran LEE, Chris MCMORRAN, Sua JAYDEN, Sarah DAVIS-GOFF, Henry GOFF, Andrew THAKE, Hp GUO, Runzhan GUO, Eleanor CULLIGAN, Jamie MORRISON, Niki PERRYMAN, and Lee ROBERTS.

Thank you for timing, scanning, marshalling, cheering, token sorting, setup, pack down, and keeping everything running smoothly (even before some of us had coffee ☕).

Whether you ran, jogged, walked, volunteered, or simply came for the chats afterwards, thank you for making West Coast parkrun such a welcoming and joyful community every Saturday morning. See you next week! 🌴🎽
