Since 2001, the concept of Miss Earth has displayed positive results and gained worldwide recognition as one of the Top 3 beauty pageants in the world, in line with Miss Universe and Miss World contests in terms of the number of national level competitions to participate in the world finals. The reigning titleholders dedicate their year to promote environmental projects and to address issues concerning the environment. It is the only pageant, recognized as one, that is more than just glitz and glamour, epitomizing beauty with a meaningful cause. CT Hansen International Pte Ltd initiated the Miss Earth Singapore's "Green & Glamour" campaign in 2005. The aim is to mobilize young and vibrant green ambassadors to become trendsetters and spokespersons in raising awareness on the current environmental crises we are facing. This initiative runs a 12-month intensive environmental campaign annually, which allows the Miss Earth Singapore contestants to be Green Ambassadors. The Miss Earth Singapore initiative seeks to broaden its environmental outreach by roping in the help of the public to participate in conserving our natural resources through fun, engaging and educational activities that will be fronted by the Miss Earth Singapore Green Ambassadors. To date, ambassadors from Miss Earth Singapore have participated and fronted numerous eco-campaigns ranging from corporate eco-awareness talks, eco-fashion shows, product launches to international environmental campaigns. ABOUT THE MISS EARTH PAGEANT
After establishing a track record in mounting world-class beauty pageants over the last decade, Carousel Productions Inc. decided to reinvent and improve the concept of beauty competitions for the new millennium. Because many people admire and aspire to be a beauty queen, Carousel Productions, Inc. believed beauty queens would be a good and effective advocate of worthy causes. To give life to this vision, Carousel Productions Inc. organized and launched in 2001 the MISS EARTH Beauty Pageant, a beauty event whose raison d'etre was to have its candidates and winners actively promote and get involved in the preservation of the environment and the protection of Mother Earth. Apart from a strong emphasis on environmental protection programs, MISS EARTH also aims to showcase and promote various tourist destinations. Every year, 80 to 90 candidates from all over the world compete on beauty and knowledge of environmental issues. The winner of MISS EARTH will serve as the Ambassador to environmental protection campaigns worldwide.
