Due to the rising cost in Japan, Japan Railway will be revising its JR nationwide Pass price from October 1, 2026.

If you're traveling to Japan between October 1 and December 30, consider getting the JR nationwide pass at the lower price now.

The last date to purchase is September 30. Note that the exchange voucher will be valid for 90 days from the date of issuance (e.g., if issued on September 30, the last exchange date will be December 30).

You can set the pass validity to start on December 31 or up to a month from the exchange date. Get your JR nationwide pass from us now before the price increase.

🌿 A well-hidden secret in Tokushima, Shikoku

Deep in the remote mountains of Iya Valley lies the Oku-Iya Double Vine Bridges—one of those hidden gems that remains far from the usual tourist trail.

The reason? Getting here is an adventure in itself.

🚆 How to get here:
You can take the JR train to Awa-Ikeda Station, one of the main gateways to the Iya Valley. From there, continue by rental car or taxi, heading deep into the mountains along narrow, winding roads.

Another option is to take the train to Oboke Station, which is closer to Iya Valley, and continue by car or taxi from there.

🚗 For the Oku-Iya Double Vine Bridges, renting a car is probably the most convenient option, as public transportation becomes very limited as you travel deeper into the mountains.

The long journey, winding roads and remote location are exactly what keep this beautiful place a secret. 🌲

After travelling deep into the mountains, you finally arrive at two traditional vine suspension bridges surrounded by lush forest and rushing mountain streams.

Sometimes, the harder a place is to reach, the more rewarding it becomes.

Important: The Double Vine Bridges are closed from December through March, so plan your visit between April and November.

Walking through Tsumago-juku feels like stepping back into Japan's Edo period. As one of the best-preserved post towns along the historic Nakasendō Trail, its traditional wooden buildings, quiet streets, and carefully hidden modern utilities create the illusion that the last few centuries never happened.

The best part? It's easily accessible—just a short bus ride from JR Nagiso Station.

If you only have time to experience one section of the Nakasendō, make it the hike from Tsumago-juku to Magome-juku. This scenic 8 km trail takes around 2–3 hours, leading you through peaceful forests, waterfalls, ancient stone paths, and charming villages. It's the perfect blend of history, nature, and culture—and one of Japan's most rewarding day hikes.

🚉 Getting there is easy! You can start your journey from either Onomichi or Imabari, both of which are accessible via Japan's JR rail network.

🚲 No bicycle? No problem! Bicycle rental stations are available at both ends of the route and at several points along the way, so you can easily rent a bike and even return it at a different location.
