CPAS welcomed coach Farrhan and Tommy from the Wheelchair Basketball Association (Singapore) who conducted a try-out and exposure session with 60 of our trainees from the Goodwill, Rehabilitation and Occupational Workshop (GROW) and clients from the CPAS Connect Alumni programme.

Participants learnt the basics of manoeuvring on a wheelchair and practiced simple bounce and chest passes. It was a new experience for many of them, and they certainly had a ball of a time!

We would like to thank Singapore Pools (Singapore Pools in the Community) for the kind sponsorship of this workshop as part of a larger push towards inclusive sports. Thank you for providing such new experiences for our clients.

🎨 “I drew HDB blocks because they are Singapore’s pride. I coloured them green to represent nature. One day, I hope to see more solar panels on HDBs so we can all save electricity together.” – Rihansh Manoj Chugani, speaking to the media at the official launch of the NDP 2025 Pack yesterday.

We are proud to share that Rihansh, a student from CPAS School (East), is one of 41 artists with disabilities whose artwork will be featured on this year’s National Day Parade packs. His artwork, along with that of Shaqirah from CPAS School (West), was selected with support from SG Enable.

Rihansh is part of our Special Arts CCA at CPAS School (East), where students explore their creativity and develop skills in various art forms—painting, mosaic, sculpture, silk printing, and more.

to a vibrant day at CPAS School West’s recent Open House! We were thrilled to welcome over 100 guests — from parents and caregivers to educators and healthcare professionals.

Visitors enjoyed guided tours of our school grounds, explored booths showcasing our programmes and therapy services, and connected with our passionate Parent Support Group (P@C) through handmade crafts and henna art. One of the highlights? Our student-run Minimart, which offered an engaging and meaningful hands-on experience for all.

🎈 Celebrating CPAS Social Work Day 2025 💛

Last month, we came together to honour the heart and dedication of our social workers at CPAS Social Work Day 2025. This year’s theme, “Strengthening Intergenerational Solidarity for Enduring Wellbeing,” was brought to life through a series of meaningful activities.

Our Intergenerational Gift of Love featured balloon crafts filled with care and hand-drawn emotions, inviting attendees to gift them to someone special—symbolising the power of support across generations.

At the Parent Support Group booth, parents proudly showcased their handmade crafts and shared their experiences from various activities.

Our Caregiver Stories Station and a heartfelt video interview offered a glimpse into the unseen but impactful work of social workers behind the scenes.

We ended the day with an Appreciation Station, where attendees wrote heartfelt thank-you notes to express their gratitude.

Thank you to all who joined us in celebrating the incredible work of our social workers!

50 of our clients from the CPAS Day Activity Centre (DAC) had the opportunity to visit the Singapore Flyer last week. This was part of Singapore Pools (Singapore Pools in the Community) Community Week to commemorate their 57th Anniversary.

It was indeed a memorable outing, especially for some of our clients, who were experiencing this for the first time. After the visit, they were also treated to a nice lunch and even received snack packs to take home.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Singapore Pools and the 30 volunteers for making this possible.

If you are looking to sponsor a similar experience for our children and adults with Cerebral Palsy or multiple disabilities, please email us at [email protected] to find out more about our programme.

Early Childhood Educators make up just 1% of the workforce in Singapore, yet they make 100% of a difference in the lives of the children they support!

The CPAS Early Intervention Programme for Infants and Children (EIPIC), provides early intervention for children with one or more disabilities, and prepares them for admission into either a Special Education school or mainstream school.

Ms. Pearlyn Pua and Mr. Kishure Kumar are two of our Early Intervention Educators with CPAS EIPIC. They are part of our dedicated team of interventionists, interventionist aides and support staff, shaping the development and maximising the potential of children with special needs under our care.

Thank you to our EIPIC team for your dedication!

🚌Gaining confidence to board the bus with Tower Transit Singapore🚌

Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore School (CPASS – West) and Tower Transit Singapore (TTS) inked a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on a long-term partnership.

The partnership includes disability awareness workshops for TTS bus captains to be able to better interact with persons with multiple disabilities and the incorporation of the TTS Public Bus Confidence Course (PBCC) into the curriculum at CPASS – West.

Mr Lee Yong Heng, Senior Director, Operations, who represented TTS at the event shared, “As a public transport operator, we believe that for public transport to be truly public, it must be inclusive. We are proud to collaborate with CPASS-West to help persons with cerebral palsy and their caregivers take the bus with confidence and dignity.”

Thank you to TTS for the partnership to create a more inclusive public transport for our students.

The Lai Xi (来喜token) is traditionally given out at a Chinese funeral for good luck. It comprises sweets - symbolic of sweetness in life, and a towel - to wipe off tears and sadness.

Direct Funeral Services has been partnering with our trainees at CPAS’ Goodwill Rehabilitation and Occupational Workshop (GROW) for over 10 years to prepare these Lai Xi. GROW is a sheltered workshop providing vocational training and sheltered employment for over 90 adults with Cerebral Palsy or multiple disabilities.

"We first met CPAS 12 years ago and learned about GROW. Seeing how nimble the trainees at GROW could be, we proposed to work with them on preparing our lai xi (来喜). We hope that by doing so, we can help give them more jobs. It's been 12 years, and they have helped us wrap more than 1.5 million tokens” shared, Ms. Jenny Tay, Managing Director of Direct Funeral Services

We take this opportunity to thank Direct Funeral Services for providing such meaningful work opportunities for our GROW trainees. You can find out more about GROW: https://cpas.org.sg/grow/

🏆CPAS Sports Day 2025 – Together We Shine! 🏆

Last Saturday, CPAS came alive with energy and excitement at our annual Sports Day 2025! The event brings together students and clients from all our programmes, across all age groups.

From adaptive relays to frame running, every game was inclusive and accessible — proving that sports truly are for everyone. The Blue House emerged as champions for this edition of the Sports Day.

✨We were honoured to welcome Mr Desmond Tan, Grassroots Adviser to Pasir Ris–Changi GRC, as our Guest of Honour. A heartfelt thank you to Singapore Pools (Private) Limited (Singapore Pools in the Community) for their generous sponsorship and volunteer support.

A Special thanks to Tampines Meridian Junior College (TMJC) for hosting us at their campus and to their Wushu CCA for ending off the event with a dynamic performance!

We are deeply grateful to Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean as he retires from politics after over three decades of dedicated service.

SM Teo has been a steadfast supporter of CPAS, especially since the opening of our Cerebral Palsy Centre in 2004, located in his Pasir Ris ward. Over the years, he has graced many of our events—from our fundraising Charity Dinners to the Steptember 2019 campaign—always championing inclusion and support for persons with cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities.

His unwavering advocacy in government and his efforts to connect us with community partners have helped shape Pasir Ris into a more inclusive space for our clients and their families. His legacy will continue to inspire us, and his contributions have left an indelible mark on CPAS.

From all of us at CPAS, thank you SM Teo for walking alongside us all these years.
