Established in April 2015, Okinawa Prefectural Government (OPG) Singapore Representative Office`s mission is to promote tourism and trade between the two beautiful islands of Singapore and Okinawa. The name "SGOkinawa.Go"was choosen for our page because "Go" apart from being an action verb, also means "5" in Japanese. It is also our wish that more Singaporeans would GO to Okinawa. This name also commemorates our opening in the year of SG50!

Haisai!♥ Today is the day of the Kariyushi shirt👕. Kariyushi means auspicious, good fortune💰 and happiness🌺.
Okinawa people, either male🙋 or female💁‍♀️, are seen during this season, to wear Kariyushi shirt👚 for their business wear or elegant dresses👗in different designs, to welcome especially the overseas visitors instead of the formal business wear👰‍♂️. You🫵 can expect to be greeted with hotel and restaurant employees🍽️ in their Kariyushi wear.🌈

Also do watch out for the names📔 after Kariyushi in Okinawa🗾,
• Hotel🛏 accommodation 🏨known as Okinawa Kariyushi Beach Resort🏖 Ocean Spa🏩,
• Second largest aquarium🦈 in Okinawa that features🐙 a large underwater 🏊‍♀️tunnel🐟 and a variety of marine life exhibits🦐 known as DMM Kariyushi Aquarium Okinawa🐬🐟🐡🦈
• Japanese four-man pop group👬👬 formed in 2005, from Okinawa known as Kariyushi 58
The name “Kariyushi” also used for political parties….. 😎and so on…..😀

If you commute by public bus🚌 in Singapore regularly, you might be familiar with bus service number 111 or 120 travelling from Ghim Moh Bus Terminal to Orchard Road (Loop) and Kampong Bahru Bus Terminal to Telok Blangah Heights (Loop) respectively.🚎
In Okinawa🗾, we also operate bus service number 111 or 120 which locals and foreigners are familiar with as well. Both service numbers start from Naha airport to Nago bus terminal as they move close to many places of interest like
👉Nago pineapple park 🍍& fruit land,🍓🍇🍑🥝🍉
👉Junglia Okinawa,😀
👉Orion beer park,🍻🍺🙋‍♀️
👉Nago castle remains famous for cherry blossoms,💐🌷
From Nago bus terminal it enables commuters 👫to take connecting buses🚍 to places like

👉Ocean Expo Park,
👉Nakijin Castle Ruins which is one of the UNESCO Cultural World Heritage.🧐
👉Yanbaru which is a UNESCO Natural World heritage. 🌄
👉Kouri island which is famous for heart rock💞💓

Bus service 111 is using the Okinawa the expressway🛣 so it arrives sooner at Nago, while bus 120 service moves along the western coast of Okinawa main island🗾
If you choose not to drive 🚗🚙during your trip in Okinawa, taking public transport🚌🚎 is definitely an option to enjoy your trip.

When you are in Okinawa,🗾 it is easier to come across goats or yagi 🐐(Hi-jaa in Okinawa dialect) in the grassy🌱 areas or by the roadside🛣 especially in the off-islands🌞. They are mostly white although you can occasionally spot some black ones around. It is said that goats are tough animals that are 'easy to keep,' and 'less prone to sickness'.

Grass grows rapidly due to the 🏖climate🌅 but goats are 'grass-cutting🍃 workers”. They are usually tied with a rope to stop them from running away, but they are allowed to graze🍂 freely and stay healthy💪.

Goat wrestling or hi-jaa-o-rase is an annual event📝 whereby two male goats🐐🐐 are placed in a ring to butt heads naturally until one of them surrenders…. If you👓 are interested to explore 🧐further, then add this in your itinerary📝 for your Okinawa trip🖋🗓.

The Fere Rock, meaning Bandit Rock in Takoyama (多幸山) can be found in Onna village in Okinawa🗾. Legend has it that a long time ago, mountain⛰ thieves would wait on top of the rock and use a pole🏑 with hook to snag travellers’ belongings💰 from the top as they passed by while some would hide behind the rock to wait for their target, and thus the rock's name🏖.
Fortunately, it is so convenient for us♥ as safe transport🚓🚍🚋 is available wherever we go, unlike in the olden days when people👪 could only get to their destination 🛣by foot🐾.
