Every day, our teachers encourage, challenge and look out for our students — helping them grow in confidence, character and curiosity. Thank you for the care, patience and energy you bring to this work.

With the September term break starting, I hope teachers — and students — get a good rest, spend time with family and friends, and recharge for the final stretch of the year!

Sharing a photo of a family moment I caught at the Siyob Bazaar in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The September school holidays are about to begin. In the midst of preparing for the upcoming term, I hope everyone gets the chance to enjoy the little moments and spend quality family time together.

And to all teachers and educators — Happy Teachers’ Day! Thank you for guiding and moulding our students — not only by imparting knowledge and skills, but also by nurturing their character, values and aspirations. Your dedication and passion make a lasting difference that goes far beyond the classroom.

Happy to meet Permanent Member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Secretariat Tran Cam Tu, who was in Singapore to co-chair the inaugural Singapore-Vietnam Strategic Dialogue (SVSD) with Coordinating Minister for Public Services Chan Chun Sing.

The SVSD is a new platform that General Secretary and President To Lam and I agreed to establish under our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. It brings together our political leaders and officials to exchange views, address shared challenges, and strengthen mutual understanding and trust.

I was glad to hear that the inaugural dialogue had substantive and fruitful discussions. I look forward to building on this good start and taking Singapore-Vietnam relations forward.

The world has changed and is continuing to change fast. These are not temporary disruptions. They are the new normal that we will have to endure and survive for many years to come. At the NDR tonight, I shared how Singapore will respond to these changes.

We will harness the power of technology, but do so our own terms. We will give families more confidence and support every step of the way. We will stay open and connected, while keeping cohesive and united. And we will keep planning and building for the long-term, with major plans for our outer islands.

We cannot know what challenges lie ahead. But if we stay united, keep faith with one another and hold fast to the values that have brought us this far, I am confident that we will rise to every challenge - and we will prevail. Together we will build a brighter future and a stronger Singapore!
