Olympic Level Dressage Groom Opportunity | Australia 🇦🇺

An exceptional opportunity has just opened up at a highly professional dressage yard training horses to Olympic level.

We are looking for an experienced, professional groom with a background in performance sport horses to join a world-class team for a 12-month placement.

🐎 What’s on offer:
• $1,200 AUD per week (above award wages)
• Modern on-site accommodation included
• Work with elite dressage horses in a high-performance environment
• Travel to competitions across Australia
• Potential opportunity to attend the World Championships in Germany (August)
• Long-term role with potential to extend and visa support

🌿 Location: VICTORIA
Set in a beautiful rural area surrounded by vineyards and native forest, with kangaroos regularly on the property.
Melbourne is easily accessible for days off, restaurants, and city life.

🧑‍🌾 The role:
• Daily care of high-performance dressage horses
• Grooming, tacking up, and presentation for training and competition
• Maintaining exceptionally high yard standards
• Working as part of a professional, tidy and team-focused team

✔️ You’ll need:
• Proven experience with performance / competition horses (essential)
• European or British training preferred
• High standards of turnout and organisation
• Commitment to 12 months minimum
• Eligible for Working Holiday Visa (417 or 462 only)
• Sponsorship opportunities thereafter

“I have recently received my second working holiday visa after having an incredible first year in Australia. I was very lucky to have the opportunity to work at a pre-training farm in Sydney which was set up by Employ Equine which gained me invaluable experience. This was followed by travelling up the East Coast with one of my closet friends who I met at the job. We visited around 10 different places up the coast and it was definitely a once in a lifetime experience. I had so much fun, made so many friends and incredible memories all whilst discovering lots of beautiful places that Australia has to offer. I will never forget the memories that I made during that time. Having just finished a few months of work on a thoroughbred pre-training yard in Australia, I would definitely recommend! Georgie was very helpful from the get-go with answering all my questions, giving me lots of information and putting me in touch with the owners - she made all the admin and sorting the job out very easy. Lots of info was provided on what to expect at the job, and a week’s orientation in Sydney was included too - which was great to settle in and see some sights before I started working. Overall it was a great experience and very hassle-free, thank you Georgie!

It’s been great! All the people are so lovely so I’ve found settling in quite easy! The work was definitely tiring at the start but it’s getting much easier as I’m getting used to it! THANK YOU!

Here’s what happens when you start working at our fantastic stud just outside of Sydney 👏

‘I currently work the mornings with the racehorses and then in the afternoon I head over to another yard where I help with event horses. At this moment in time, preparation is starting for the event season where I will be going to events to groom. I am enjoying learning about what it takes to get event horse to perform at the highest level of the sport from mainting all the equipment and tack, and working the horses to feeding the horses.

I’m having a great time, I definitely enjoy the two different yards. I’m learning so much with the thoroughbreds and how to work/deal with young horses, but I also love the competition side of horses and eventing is right up my street so I enjoy both of them for different reasons.

It’s so different from at home and I really enjoy learning new things and ways of doing things!
I feel like no matter how much you know, there’s always more to learn and coming to a different country really shows that and I love that! X
