No Average Joe

No Average Joe Hybrid Content Creators Mmhmm… we’re proper barmy. But big names or not, we bring the same energy to all sorts of content. Still indie. Still scrappy.

A curious beast by nature, No Average Joe specialises in brand films, social content, and motion design, bringing a documentary-led approach to corporate and commercial storytelling… with the occasional long-form feature when we momentarily forget how much work they are. That same curiosity has led us down some unexpected paths - designing art installations for animal welfare, curating retro gami

ng experiences to feed nostalgia, and even developing video games about rogue clients. Founded in 2004, with roots in Singapore, some know us for our high-profile sports and gaming content, spanning industries, platforms, and continents, somehow finding ourselves working with icons like Michael Schumacher and Daigo Umehara along the way. Still the perpetual David among Goliaths.

BitSummit is one of the most respected indie game festivals in the world, and being chosen as an international exhibitor up against a field that naturally favours Japanese developers is not something we took for granted for even a second.

OTOT is a 2D 1v1 arcade shooter set in the ruins of a future Singapore. Eight fighters, four arenas, instant rematches. Easy to pick up between friends or strangers, impossible to put down.

We've had more near misses and false starts than we care to admit. But here we are. Turns out the world has a lot of love for small games with big personalities right now, and we'll take it.

Come find us at Miyakomesse, Booth 3F-D59, 22 to 24 May. We'll be there with a playable build and a lot of feelings.

More news to come.

No wait... it's 2026. 😬

Let's deal with it together in January.
Happy Holidays from No Average Joe.

𝑺𝒐... 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒘𝒌𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅.

A couple of nights ago, we went to the Asian Academy Creative Awards fully expecting to clap politely for the real contenders… and somehow walked out with the Grand Final Award for Best Short Form (Non-Scripted) for Diablo: Father Antonio - Beyond The Veil.

We're a tiny indie. The other nominees were, you know… actual international networks. We didn't prepare a speech because why would we.

Our stunned faces from the live broadcast will explain the rest.

For those unfamiliar, AACA is one of Asia-Pac's top creative awards… think of it as the region's own Emmy. The trophy is made by Society Awards in New York - the same people who produce the actual Emmy statuette - which explains why it weighs roughly the same as a small child.

Huge thanks to the AACA showrunners, the wonderful folks at Blizzard, and of course Father Antonio, whose honesty and conviction carried this story.

Announcement clip coming soon. Brace yourselves for some award-winning bewilderment.

Our Big Chief is stepping out from behind the monitors this week to join the Short Form Masters panel at the Asian Academy Creative Awards National Winners Conference.

It’s a gathering of national winners and broadcast heavy-hitters across Asia Pacific. We’re quietly chuffed to see our little outfit in the same conversation.

If you spot him, feel free to say hello. He responds well to beef rendang.

Awards aren’t everything… and yet they kinda are lol. Proper chuffed that Diablo: Father Antonio – Beyond the Veil picked up Best Short Form (Unscripted) at the Asian Academy Creative Awards.

This one was special. A real priest who spends his days fighting the devil, then logs on at night to fight him again in Diablo? You can’t make this stuff up. We just had the privilege of telling his story.

Huge thanks to Blizzard for trusting us with this series, and to Father Antonio for being an absolute legend both IRL and in-game. Grateful for the nod on a project we truly loved.

𝗦𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗧 𝟭𝟲... 🎂
(well, technically 21, but we were knee-deep in chaos and forgot our own “Founder’s Day” back in August… classic NAJ.)

In October 2009, 𝗡𝗼 𝗔𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝗲 officially became a registered business in Singapore. Before that, we were just a bunch of pretenders winging it. Sixteen years on… still here, somehow. 🙏

Coincidentally, just this past fortnight, we popped up as surprise guests at Singapore Design Week, as part of its “Reinvention” showcase at the gorgeous new Geneo in Science Park. We told our story as a larger-than-life comic book: stumbling from documentaries into gaming, never quite leaving our roots, and somehow making games of our own along the way.

Speaking of which, last weekend our long-suffering game, 𝗢𝘄𝗻 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗢𝘄𝗻 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁 (𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗧), clawed its way out of development hell for a public showcase at the National Library. Turns out… people still love it, so the patient isn’t dead just yet.

Looking ahead to what’s left of the year (it’s flown by again, hasn’t it?), two projects close to our hearts are in the works:

𝟵 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀: 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 🐈‍⬛ An anthology film about how our feline friends shape our lives. From families stumbling into fostering, to game designers turning cats into digital heroes, and everything in between. Each story told in a different vein - slice-of-life, parody, music video, even animation. It’s part-funded by Canon to showcase the power of their new compact PowerShot V1 (which we’re shooting it with), and we’re planning a physical screening before it finds a digital home.

𝗩𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 🎮 One of only 30 stories selected for SG60 under IMDA’s first-ever indie fund (via AIPRO). It explores Singapore’s footprint on games that went global. And yes, for once, we find ourselves in front of the camera... awkwardness coming soon to TikTok & IG.

So yeah, 16 years (or 21, depending on how you count). Disruption, reinvention, cats, and questionable life choices. We’re grateful to still be here, mostly punching above our weight... and occasionally below the belt.

Here’s to surviving long enough to forget the next milestone! 🖖
