✨ According to the old Julian calendar, March 12 was the first day of spring.
✨ With the introduction of the Gregorian calendar, introduced by Pope Gregory XIII. (in Slovenian territory it has been in use since 1584), it moved by ten days.
✨ Gregory's Day in Slovenia is also considered a lovers' day or a special day when birds get married. The time around the vernal equinox, just like the time around the autumnal equinox and the longest and shortest day of the year, is very important in cultural heritage. 🫶
