Hiking Slovenia.
Tested on foot. Shared with heart. 💚

A little midweek reminder of how we work at Hiking Slovenia: we don’t just create tours from a computer screen — we regularly go out and walk them ourselves.

Why? Because the best tour planning comes from real experience: seeing the landscape, checking the paths, feeling the atmosphere, and spotting those little details that make a trip special.

These beautiful moments were captured by our colleague Nina on one of those field walks. 📷

That’s how our tours are built: step by step, trail by trail.

One summit. Three countries. One very good reason to stop for a while. 🇸🇮🇦🇹🇮🇹

At the Slovenia–Austria–Italy tripoint, the view crosses borders much more easily than people do.

Turn the sound on.

No motivational soundtrack.
No cinematic orchestra.
Just Slovenia’s original trail playlist:

cowbells,
tails swishing,
grass chewing,
and one cow silently judging your hiking technique.

Some places are remembered by the view.
Others by the soundtrack.

A room with a view, Karst edition. 🪟

Red roofs, vineyards, a village church and hills rising just beyond the last house — sometimes Slovenia looks best before you even step outside.

From the Julian Alps to Italy, the Alpe Adria Trail is a journey through some of Slovenia’s most spectacular landscapes.

Cross Vršič Pass, follow the emerald Soča River, walk past waterfalls and historic mountain villages, then continue over the Kolovrat Ridge into the gentler hills of Friuli.

It is demanding, varied and unforgettable — especially in late September and early October, when the trails are quieter and the strongest summer heat has passed.

Sunday teaser from Bohinj. 🍂

You may already know this tree — it became one of the most recognizable symbols of Fructal juices.

In Bohinj, however, it is not a logo. It is a real place, standing beside the lake and looking especially spectacular in autumn light.

You packed hiking boots, waterproofs, three fleeces, emergency snacks, a second pair of emergency snacks and apparently half your living room.

Good news: on our self-guided hiking tours, your main luggage is transferred between accommodations.

You only carry what you need for the day — water, a light jacket, a camera and perhaps one emergency snack.

Because self-guided should feel adventurous, not like moving house on foot.

From the slopes of Nanos, even Slovenia’s highest motorway point looks surprisingly small.

One of those views that reminds you how quickly roads disappear when you gain a little height — and how much better the world looks from a hiking trail. 🥾

September and October bring a different kind of beauty to Slovenia.

Cooler days, quieter trails and golden forests make autumn a wonderful time to explore the country on foot. The high mountains may already demand more caution, but lower valleys, lakes and forest trails can be at their most peaceful and atmospheric.
