Just back from a few days at Escape to Bohinj...

It’s always a treat to spend time here, and you could really see spring emerging in the valley as each day passed 🌿 Lovely to catch up with local friends, spend time with the family, and celebrate Charlie's 18th birthday 🎉

Here are a few highlights from our stay:

✨ A snowy hike up to Črno jezero (Black Lake)
✨ Cycling the Bohinj Trail
✨ A day trip to Ljubljana (with a stop at the fantastic gluten-free bakery, Aurora Slaščičarna - I highly recommend the cinnamon rolls!
✨ Walking around Lake Bohinj with coffee at the campsite
✨ Fabulous vistas from Peč viewpoint and Dom na Komni

There is something very special about Bohinj at this time of year 😊 Already looking forward to our next visit!

The Boat is Back ⛴

Great news—the Bohinj boat is back on the lake from today!

One of the best ways to experience Lake Bohinj is from the water, gliding across the crystal-clear surface with the Julian Alps all around you. The electric boat connects Ribčev Laz and Ukanc, making it not just scenic but super convenient if you are hiking, swimming, or just exploring both ends of the lake.

✨Top tip✨ Take the boat one way and stroll back along the north shore—it’s a peaceful, easy walk with stunning views the whole way.

Thought I would share some photos of spring in Bohinj. I love this time of year - the warmth of the sun on your face, everywhere so green & lush...and the flowers are stunning.

Here are some of my favourite things to in Bohinj in spring:

🥀Marvel at the wild flowers - The meadows around Lake Bohinj come alive with gorgeous flowers. Nature at it's best 🌿

🪻 Join the Bohinj Wild Flower Festival (23rd May-8th June) - Take a guided walk to discover local flowers, sample dishes inspired by local plants, and soak up traditional music and culture

🥾 Hike & bike in peace - The Julian Alps are quieter now, making it the perfect time to explore the trails without the summer busyness

💦 Chase waterfalls - As the snow melts, waterfalls like Slap Savica are at their most dramatic. Definitely worth all those steps!

🍫 Indulge at the Chocolate Festival (12th–13th April) – Radovljica’s famous festival is heaven for chocolate lovers, with tastings, workshops, and sweet treats galore

⛪️ Visit Bled—without the crowds – Spring is the ideal time to enjoy iconic spots like Lake Bled and Vintgar Gorge before peak season begins

So many places to explore in Slovenia. I have visited two of these....in particular, the Škocjan caves are incredible - they are like something out of "Lord of the Rings".

🌿 How many outdoor activities can you fit into one week?

Our recent guests managed quite a few:
