👒 Alma Maksimilijana Karlin (October 12, 1889 – January 15, 1950)
A world traveler, writer, poet, and travel writer of Slovenian origin, born and died in Celje.🏫

She was an extraordinary woman who continues to inspire many people 👱‍♀️🤸‍♀️🧔‍♀️ even today. She spoke as many as nine foreign languages. She became more widely recognized in Slovenian cultural consciousness only at the end of the 20th century. In 1918, she made the decision to embark on a journey around the world. She set off on November 24, 1919, and returned at the end of 1927.

💼 Her travels took her through Japan, South and North America, the Far East, the Pacific Islands, Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. The final stop on her journey was India. She wrote about her impressions in magazines and newspapers. Upon returning, she settled in Celje, where she lived and worked until her death. She is buried in the cemetery at Svetina above Štore (Slovenia).
