Piran is a charming town on a small peninsula in the Adriatic Sea 🌊 It is one of the most photogenic and visited places in Slovenia 📷 The town got its name after the greek word “pyr”, which means fire, due to the fire that was lit at the end of the cape, directing the ships away from the land 🔥 The process of salt extraction from the sea in the nearby salt flats, made Piran a wealthy and important trading point, particularly in the times of the Venetians. Today you can still see their influence in the architecture and the charming little streets 😎
