Around 300 participants from 16 different teams from the region took part and completed in several sports like basketball, table-tennis and different athletics disciplines. Sporting achievements and results were of secondary importance, as the well being, socialization and recreation were the main reasons of such a high turnout among participants. Video news is in Slovene language and more suitable for our Slovenian followers.

Russian climber Rustam Nabiyev, who lost his legs, became the first person in the world to reach the summit of Everest using only his hands. He announced this on social media:

"I dedicate this ascent to everyone watching me now. With this act, I simply want to say one thing: as long as there's life left in you, fight! Fight to the end, please! It's worth it!"

Nabiyev, 34, left Everest Base Camp on May 13 )on his birthday) and reached an altitude of nearly 8,849 meters on the morning of May 20.

In 2015, Nabiyev's legs were amputated due to injuries sustained when the barracks of the Airborne Forces training center collapsed in Omsk. He spent more than seven hours under the rubble. Twenty-four people died in that tragedy.

In the first half of May, as every year town, of Laško was hosting two strong tournaments in para-table tennis. First was the ITTF Para Challenger tournament, which took place from 5th to 9th May. 336 players from 45 countries participated at that event. An even stronger - ITTF Para Elite tournament was taking place between 11th and 15th of May. The competition at that one was particularly strong as several dozen players from Asia arrived at the tournament. They were also the ones who dominated both events as most medals went to South Korea, Thailand and PR of China. Slovenes were represented by 9 players. Coaches were not exactly pleased by the results, but the tournament was saved by the veteran Andreja Dolinar who managed to get a bronze medal in para-table tennis ladies doubles competition. It is worth noting that during the tournaments players and organizers payed respect to Slovene para-table tennis coach Gorazd Večko who passed away last year.
