Through its European Digital Diplomacy Exchange programme, the Centre for European Perspective is working with partners across Europe and the United States to help public institutions communicate more clearly, build trust, and support citizen engagement in democratic processes.

EDDE brings practitioners together to exchange knowledge, share experience, and strengthen the strategic communication capacities needed for more resilient democratic societies.

The Centre for European Perspective is overseeing and implementing the European Digital Diplomacy Exchange project. Activities are supported and funded by the U.S. Department of State and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, in the scope of the International Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid program.

💡 Are we paying enough attention to the global shifts that are redefining the relationship between security, resilience, economics and finance?

The expert team at our Trivelis Institute is among the first in Slovenia to analyses the proposed Defense, Security and Resilience Bank (DSRB) – a new multilateral financial institution that is attracting growing international attention.

Their analysis shows that the initiative is about more than a new financial institution. It reflects broader shifts in how countries are approaching resilience, competitiveness and preparedness.

Security is increasingly linked to access to capital, technological innovation, industrial capacity and resilient supply chains. At the same time, governments and international organizations are exploring new ways to mobilize public and private investment for strategically important sectors.

More broadly, the initiative illustrates how resilience is becoming not only a security issue, but also an economic, technological and financial one.

Recently, our Trivelis Institute team has been working closely with one of Slovenia’s leading defense experts, Dr. Igor Kotnik, on a strategic analysis examining how a small country like Slovenia should rethink its armed forces in an increasingly unpredictable and complex security environment.

The study explores how Slovenia’s defense system should adapt to the realities of a small and geographically diverse country operating in an increasingly unpredictable security environment and within the wider framework.

As the study highlights, discussions about the future of defense and security should go far beyond organizational structures or short-term solutions. In a world that is becoming increasingly unpredictable, the real question is how countries build systems that are resilient, adaptable and prepared for future crises.

So, the question is: are we preparing for the world as it was — or for the world that is coming?

Global starts local! 🌍 And primary school is the perfect place to start teaching these values early.

Our team recently hosted a workshop for 9th-grade students at Spodnja Idrija Primary School, focusing on international development cooperation, Slovenia's global role, and our active projects in Ukraine.

Thank you to Zavod Povod for teaming up with us, and a huge thanks to the Spodnja Idrija Primary School and the Municipality of Idrija (partner to Ukraine's Pereschepyne community in our "Rebuilding Ukraine" program) for making this happen.
