Lake Bled is so beautiful! We did a short hike up to Mala Osojnica (trailhead is from Camping Bled parking lot) for this panoramic view. Really easy hike up the hill - took 20 minutes max, but provides the best views of Lake Bled. Pro tip: skip Bled Castle 😉

Did you know that Slovenia has a 24 km or 15 mile long cave?? Tourism at Postojna Cave started in the 1800s - the cave got electricity even before the capital of Ljubljana! To get down to the caves you ride these railroad cars which definitely evoke Gringotts Bank (Harry Potter) vibes! Really cool experience!! @ Postojna

Slovenia has lots of caves and even has this castle built into the side of one! Predjama Castle is about an easy one hour drive outside of Ljubljana and also just up the road from Postojna Cave (probably the most visited place in Slovenia). This castle was under siege for more than a year and the owner of the castle would go through the secret tunnels behind the castle to get supplies. Unfortunately he was betrayed by a servant and a cannon ball got him while he went to the toilet... what a sh*tty way to die! 😂

Ljubljana is a fairytale city! We instantly fell in love. 😍 The town is centered around the river Ljubljanica, with lively cafes offering outdoor seating all along the river. We’ve had this trip booked for months and have been looking forward to it since. We had plans to bask in the sun, wear shorts and short-sleeved shirts, go on hikes through the Julian Alps, and maybe even take a quick plunge in the Adriatic Sea, but we were greeted by cold, rain, and snow almost the entirety of this trip
How do you deal with reality not meeting expectations? Spending weeks looking forward to a trip only to have it foiled by bad weather really sucks. For some, a trip like this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and we sympathize with the disappointment of a trip gone wrong. We are not above being disappointed, but fortunately, trips are no longer “once in a lifetime” for us. We have the luxury of traveling almost whenever we want and the mindset that we can always return in the future
On this day, we spent too much money on mediocre food because we wanted to watch the sunset from the port during dinner. And that’s okay! It was only one of three decent weather days on our entire trip, and we were going to take advantage of it
