Svalbard Wildlife Expeditions AS ble dannet i 2008, men har røtter tilbake 1992 da Svalbard Wildlife Service startet med turistvirksomhet på Svalbard. I 1980 kom gründeren av Svalbard Wildlife Service, Arne Kristoffersen, til Longyearbyen som gruvearbeider. Siden den gang har han tilbragt de fleste av sine år her oppe og kjenner derfor området bedre en de fleste andre. Etter ett års forberedelser ble Svalbard Wildlife Service stiftet i 1990, og Arne arrangerte den første turen sommeren samme år. Svalbard Wildlife Eiendom og Gruve 3 var tidligere del av Svalbard Wildlife Service, men er i dag skilt ut som egne selskaper. Svalbard Wildlife Eiendom har "Gjestehuset 102" som tilbyr overnatting i Longyearbyen. www.gjestehuset102.no

Svalbard Wildlife Expeditions AS was established in 2008, but its roots are all the way back to 1992 when Svalbard Wildlife Service was established and started with toursim on Svalbard. In 1980 Arne Krisoffersen (the founder), came to the Svalbard and worked as a miner. Most of the years he have spent here on the island, and probably knows it better than many other. After one year, Svalbard Wildlife Service was established in 1990, and Arne started his first trips the same summer. This was the modest beginning of the toursim on Svalbard. "Svalbard Wildlife Eiendom" and "Gruve 3" was earlier a part of Svalbard Wildlife Service, but are now splint as individual companies. Svalbard Wildlife Eiendom has the "Guesthouse 102" that offers overnight in Longyearbyen.

The Eco-Lighthouse certification is a recognition of our continous work to reduce our environmental impact and operate more sustainably. It covers everything from repairing gear before replacing it, reducing plastic use, using local partners and suppliers, just as much as it is about giving back to the local community and improving the work environment for our employees. Another important part of this work is sharing knowledge with our guests about climate change and the fragile nature of Svalbard, while showing them how to experience this environment responsibly.

The certification process is renewed every 3 years, ensuring that we continue to improve and stay committed to sustainable practices.

What fuels a good adventure? ☕️

We believe in trips where you have to put in some work. You hike, kayak or ski and by doing so, you will feel closer connected to the Svalbard nature.

We have noticed a significant boost in energy since introducing Svalbard Wildlife Expedition Coffee (based on a completly unofficial study 😅). We are serving this coffee on our overnight trips.

We are so lucky to have Michael, one of the founders of , in our team, and that's how the idea for this collaboration came to life.

Expedition Diary: Paddling from Svea Glacier to Ymerbukta 🌊⛺

Some expeditions are extra special, and this was definitely one of them!

Two guides and six guests paddled from Svea Glacier on the northern side of Isfjorden to Ymerbukta, passing five impressive glacier fronts along the way. With calm seas and beautiful weather following them throughout the journey, they got to experience the very best that Svalbard has to offer.

A great effort by the whole team and a pretty unforgettable adventure 🙌

And with that, we are heading into the weekend 🏔️
This past week has brought some beautiful days on Nordenskiöldfjellet. One of our favourite moments is when Longyearbyen is covered in clouds, but the mountains rise above the mist into sunshine and blue skies ⛅️ Sometimes you just have to climb a little bit higher 🙌🏻
