Autumn stains the Svalbard tundra orange as the first snows crown its peaks, burying the last green shoots of summer.
After months of intense feeding, the large male reindeers are ready for their peak moment: the rut. The drop in temperature marks the beginning of this phenomenon.
Armed with antlers weighing up to 15 kilos and with testosterone at its limit, they will fight for territory control and the right to perpetuate their lineage.

Three siblings, one glove, and a lot of Arctic chaos. 🦊
During one of our tours, one of our guests accidentally left a glove behind on the tundra. It didn't stay unnoticed for long.
These three Arctic fox pups quickly turned it into the perfect toy, chasing each other, wrestling, and competing for the prize.
And among them was something particularly special: a blue fox, the darker colour morph of the Arctic fox caused by a genetic variation. While white foxes are more common in Svalbard, blue foxes can still be found across the archipelago.
A simple lost glove turned into an unexpected glimpse into the playful world of Arctic fox pups.

White-beaked dolphins on the move.
Curious, energetic, and incredibly fast, these dolphins joined us for a while as they fed and played in the rich Arctic waters.
White-beaked dolphins are among the most charismatic marine mammals. Often travelling in groups, they can be seen bow-riding, socialising, and working together to hunt schools of fish.
The Arctic is full of surprises.

A fulmar in flight.
During one of our Catch of the Day trips, we captured this Arctic seabird passing in front of the glacier, a perfect example of the scale and beauty of Svalbard's landscape.
Northern fulmars spend most of their lives at sea, using the winds above the ocean to travel vast distances with remarkably little effort. Here, for a brief moment, bird and glacier share the same frame.
Small against the Arctic, but perfectly at home in it.

Catch of the day. 🐧🌊
A puffin flying low over the calm waters of Templefjorden during one of our Catch of the Day trips.
Puffins are remarkably agile flyers, beating their wings up to 400 times per minute to stay airborne. They may look a little clumsy in the air, but once underwater, they become incredibly efficient hunters.
A fleeting moment, a splash of colour, and another reminder of how much life fills the Arctic summer.

A truly unforgettable day in the Arctic.
During one of our trips to Ny-Ålesund, we were lucky enough to encounter the first blue whale of the seasos.
The largest animal ever known to have lived on Earth. As if that wasn't enough, a humpback whale also joined the day, making for an extraordinary reminder of how rich Arctic waters become during the summer months.
As sea ice retreats and daylight never fades, these nutrient-rich waters attract whales from across the North Atlantic to feed during the brief Arctic summer.
Every encounter is unique, and every sighting is a privilege. We watch from a respectful distance, allowing these magnificent animals to behave naturally in their own environment.

Summer is a season of transformation in the Arctic.
This Svalbard reindeer is shedding its thick winter coat while a fresh set of antlers continues to grow, covered in a soft, living skin known as velvet. At the same time, the short Arctic summer provides an abundance of fresh vegetation, essential fuel after the long polar winter.
Every warm day counts. It's a brief but vital season for feeding, growing, and preparing for the months ahead.
A quiet reminder that life in the High Arctic is shaped by the rhythm of the seasons.

Sometimes, wildlife chooses to come a little closer.
During one of our safaris in Borebukta, this ringed seal spent a few moments investigating our boat before quietly disappearing beneath the surface.
Ringed seals are naturally cautious, but their curiosity can occasionally get the better of them, especially in calm conditions. Encounters like this happen on the animal's terms, and our role is simply to observe without influencing its behaviour.
The most memorable moments are often the ones we never expect.
Wildlife first. Always.

A sudden splash. A mouth wide open. Then silence again.
This is lunge feeding, one of the most spectacular hunting techniques used by minke whales. Accelerating from below, they surge toward the surface with their mouths open, engulfing huge volumes of water packed with fish or krill. The water is then pushed back out through their baleen plates, leaving only the prey behind.
Fast, efficient, and perfectly adapted to life in the Arctic, these brief feeding moments are a reminder of the incredible energy hidden beneath the calm surface.
Witnessing natural behaviour like this is always a privilege.
