Halley's comet meteor shower has begun!

Wake up early and look up, it’s meteor season! The Eta Aquariid meteor shower, born from the legendary Halley’s Comet, is lighting up our skies this week. The best time to catch it? The pre-dawn hours of May 5 and 6, when the radiant climbs high and the moon sets low.

If you’re in the Southern Hemisphere (or southern U.S.), you’re in for a treat – with up to 60 meteors per hour under perfect conditions. But even from farther north, you can still catch some spectacular fireballs streaking across the sky.

No telescope needed – just find a dark spot, lie back, and watch as tiny fragments of an ancient comet burn up high in Earth’s atmosphere. This is the best we get while we wait for Halley’s Comet to be back in 2061.

Grab a blanket, a warm drink, and don’t miss one of the most beautiful sky shows of the year! 🌠
