Snow in May??? No Freaking Way! It was 81 degrees today in Dakar, Senegal and right now it's 75 and 8pm at night. This is our normal temperature range. I can never live in snow!

I LOVE THIS PLACE! I go there often and just took my 8yr old grandson there during Spring Break 2026, and now, he's a fan too. I will continue to take my children and children in my neighborhood as well to VDA to enhance their perspective on the rich art and cultural history we have here in Senegal. We are surrounded daily by beautiful architecture, lovely and first class sculpture and paintings in and around office buildings and private homes and functional, recycled and upcycled art all over the city/country, so yes, they are automatically exposed to the work of very talented people daily, but they are unknown to them.

Village Des Arts is different and really something special, a JEWEL in the diamond of Africa, Dakar and VDA is such a unique experience. I have been there at least 50 or 60 times over the years, if not more and I never tire of seeing the artists and watching them work.

If you live in Senegal and you have never been, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you go. The gallery is free and so are the artists' studios and it's conveniently located on Route du Aeroport by Ker Yoff and Senecartours. There are beautiful flower gardens at the entrance across from Touba Oil and be sure to stop and look at the colorful roses that the young man running that spot has cross pollinated by hand to create colors you won't normally see in nature.

From the entrance to the exit, VDA is FOR SURE TOP THREE of the things to see in Senegal!

My only complaint - well, comment, is that it should be replicated in the Toubab Diallo/Yene area, about 15 minutes from the airport, where the new Port of Ndayane will be located. With the 2026 Dakar Youth Olympic events being held in and around the Diamniadio area, having another Village Des Arts community will add more color and community to the activities around the Port. With cruise ships docking thre regularly, along with the longshoremen on the container ship vessels as well, it will give everyone something interesting to do while in the region, in addition to the families and local people living in Ngaparou, Sindia, Saly and other places as well as regular tourists staying in the Toubab Diallo/Yene and Diamniadio area.

Other than that, TWO THUMBS UP and FIVE STARS for Village Des Arts in Dakar, SENEGAL!

I love this continental cooperation! I heard Tucker Carlson say today there may be 'famine in Africa' because of the foolishness and folly, murders and pillaging in the western world... I had to chuckle to myself. He doesn't have to worry about my people in Africa, we'll be fine. Once the ships grind to a halt and they can no longer steal African resources, we'll be MORE than fine, with the help of new partners and new relationships.

Nigeria's 🇳🇬 Dangote Refinery in Lagos has begun direct jet fuel supply to Ethiopian Airlines 🇪🇹, deepening energy ties with Africa’s largest carrier.

This is a major step for the refinery as it expands across the continent and supports regional aviation.

The deal also helps reduce reliance on fuel imports from outside Africa at a time of tight global supply.

The refinery is operating at full capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, with jet fuel exports rising to about 158,000 barrels per day. Demand has grown after supply disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.

Europe remains the biggest buyer, but exports within Africa are increasing, strengthening Nigeria’s role in global energy markets.
