The ISLAND is situated in the Prof. dr. ir. W.J Van Blommesteinlake a.k.a Stuwmeer in the district of Brokopondo not far from the Brownsberg. the enchanted treetops of this majestic lake until they reach their destination, MATU ISLAND. MATU ISLAND offers guests pure nature surrounded by clear waters, breathtaking views like the sunrises, sunsets, full moon, on a clear night perfect for star gazing, amazing fish spots, peace and relaxation, great hospitality, electricity, and plenty of accommodation all with just the right amount of comfort for the great outdoors. The island’s main lodge has 16 rooms, 10 rooms have queen bunk beds, and 6 have single queen beds (all rooms have a fan & sink) 2 rooms have air-conditioning (rooms are based for 2 and 4 people) 2 fully equipped kitchens, 6 bathrooms, 7 toilets (6 for guests and 1 for personnel) a music stereo, a widescreen TV, a sitting area, a bar area, a dining area, and balcony areas. There are also 2 fully equipped cabanas (one with 3 bedrooms max 12 people and the other 4 bedrooms max 16 people) an infinity pool, a trampoline, a hammock camp, a BBQ camp / mini-gym, and a fireplace swing area. Our pool is out of order at the moment due to high water, swimming in the lake will be at your own risk. Pickup time Boat at Afobaka Dam 9 am & Drop-off between 2-3 pm from Matu Island

Swim Vests are on Board. Please put all your luggage in a water seal bag during transport it may get wet. Transportation to & from Paramaribo is not included. Your vehicle can be safely parked at the Afobaka Dorp for a cost of SRD 100 per/auto with trailer SRD 150 by the store name Transport. Note: Please bring your fishing gear, raincoat, bath towel ( hand & beach ), alcoholic beverages, preferably none alcoholic drinks, ice for (fishing & consuming alcoholic beverages) snacks, and extra plastic bags for your fish and wet clothes if needed.
