This dance is performed to remember the confrontation between Moctezuma and Hernán Cortés that during the colony's time supposedly clashed over the love of a woman, this woman is Malinche burlesquely represented in the dance. There are three characters in this picturesque dance in which they are accompanied with any type of music and to the rhythm of the same the three costumes invite by means of the putting of the hat of Cortes, to the important personages of the community to dance, this person when invited, he must dance with the cacique queen.
Version two of the story of Moctezuma and the queen cacica:
History also arrived by the Spaniards to our ancestors.
It relates the conquest of Mexico, where the Indians face the conquerors intervening among them a woman, the cacica seducing one of the conquerors in this case the conqueror

DANCE OF THE MOROS AND CHRISTIANS:

(Testimony of Raul Flores by Norberto Barcia)
'' More than a story, it is a dramatic work based on a fragment of the Holy Bible (book first of Samuel chapter first, integral) and whose argument is about the struggles between Christians and Moors of the Goliath Giant, THE HERO is little David, who manages to beat him with three stones on his forehead, finally taking his head off; according to the story, that struggle was carried out near the river Jordan.
The adaptation made is more eloquent. When the characters act in those spacious courtyards of Conchagua, where they dance with a mastery to the sound of the whistle and the drum. They carry colored swords and small spears in brightly colored suits.
Just fifteen years ago, they showed up twice a year, for the January holidays and the other for the July festivities, at each party they lasted dancing for three consecutive days, since they had the members of the saint's stewardship celebrated and all the members of the municipality.
It was custom to welcome them with rockets and "cumbadas" "fresh" pineapple nose and for all companions, just a few coins for artists and musicians in total were sixteen men.

Because there are still many people who want to see them act and as a work of Conchagua, the municipality of that place has done the necessary steps so that the month of Tourism and Culture can be represented in La Union and Conchagua and so that all realize their complete argument, this libretto remained hidden for a long time, due to the carelessness of other libretto owners, some of them disappeared a lot. Hopefully everyone can now, follow more closely the performance of this cast of artists and can enjoy and at the same time give it its due value

History of Conchagua

The town of Conchagua was founded in 1543; and on July 12th in 1824 was annexed to the department of San Miguel, and on June 22nd in 1865 was declared as part of the department of La Union. On September 23, 1971, it obtained the title of village. It was declared as city in 2001.

The population of Conchagua is of Lenca origin, where the conchaguas or comixaguas originally lived in the islands of the Fonseca's Gulf, more specifically in what is now known as "conchaguita island", they shared these lands with other tribe called "los tecas", In 1522 an expedition sent by Gil Gonzalez Dávila under the command of Andres Niño, discovered the Gulf of Fonseca with its islands Meanguera del Golfo which Andres Niño baptized with the name of "Petronila" and conchaguita, for those times the natives of the islands were formed in a considerable amount of people; other peoples also existed on the mainland known as "Los Amapalas", whose support was in the place that is now known as an old town a few kilometers east of the city of La Union.

Francis Drake, famous sailor and English privateer made several expeditions of piracy against the Spanish colonies of America between the years of 1570 and 1572. In 1582 Francis Drake led the violent invasion looting and murdering the inhabitants of the island of the Gulf, the invasion originated a mass exodus of the inhabitants of the island to the mainland, in such a way that the conchaguas were located in the environs of the port of Amapala; the divergences between the Amapalas and the Conchaguas arose almost immediately, becoming more and more accentuated.

The Amapalas prohibited the Conchaguas from using their jetty, which forced them to establish a new port provided in the Bay of the Union, known as: "Los embarcaderos de los Conchaguas" in the same place where today is the city of La Unión. According to this historical data,"El embarcadero de Los Conchaguas" was the first formal site of settlement of the conchaguas, after emigrating from the Gulf Islands, such port offered better products and personnel than in some provinces of San Salvador and San Miguel set directed to Nicaragua.
