Situated on the banks of the Orontes River...

water wheels in Hama

were made to be a part of a very ancient irrigation system. The main purpose for it was to move water through the aqueducts.

First the ancient city of Hama is an important industrial and agricultural center that dates back to the early Iron Age. Although the city’s economy had always depended on agriculture, evidence of when Hama water wheels, or norias, were first developed goes back only to the Byzantine Era.

Location:
Meshtaye
Talkalakh, District, Homs, Syria....
this valley is a regional center of Christianity since the 6th century.
Consisting Of 32 villages, 27 are Christian.
It overviews to the famous citadel of Krak des Chevaliers.

History:
It is said that the monastery was built over remains of an ancient statue of the god Homerus by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I sometime in the 5th century.
The monastery occupies a 6,000 m2 land and was built entirely from Byzantine styled stone.

The modern church was rebuilt in 1857. Most of the older monastery's items are preserved and displayed in the monastery.

منطقة تلكلخ_المشتاية_محافظة حمص_سورية.
يعتبر هذا الوادي مركزا للمسيحية منذ القرن السادس.
يتكون من 32 قرية ، 27 منها مسيحية.
ويطل على قلعة الحصن الشهيرة Krak des Chevaliers.

تاريخه:
يُقال أن الدير بُني على بقايا تمثال قديم للإله هوميروس من قبل الإمبراطور البيزنطي جستنيان الأول في وقت ما في القرن الخامس.
يشغل الدير مساحة 6000 م 2 ، وقد بني بالكامل من الحجر البيزنطي.
أعيد بناء الكنيسة الحديثة عام 1857. ومعظم مقتنيات الدير الأقدم محفوظة في الدير الحالي.

Today marks the start of a new year in
Damascus University
the largest and oldest university in Syria located in the capital Damascus and has campuses in other Syrian cities.
It was founded in 1923 through the merger of the School of Medicine and the Institute of Law.....best of luck for our students....💎

Calligraphy Museum
or
al-Madrasa al-Jaqmaqiyeh
In the middle of the old city of Damascus there's a beautiful school that now houses the Museum of Arabic Calligraphy, dates back to the Mamluk-era.

The building was constructed between 1419 and 1421 under the rule of Seif al-Din Jaqmaq al-Arghunshawi, governor of Damascus, where he ruled from 1438 until 1453.

When you enter this place you feel like going back in time........
it's a large museum in the heart of Damascus. founded in 1919 at Madrasseh al Adiliyeh. Then moved to another place in 1936.

The National Museum of Damascus

1- The inside of it was organised into 5 wings: Prehistoric Age (Remains and skeletons from different Stone-Age periods).
2- Ancient Syria (Many Exhibits from ancient sites such as Ebla and Ugarit (the world's first Alphabet).
3- Classical Age (This wing contains Roman, Greek and Byzantine exhibits.
4- rare statues, as well as stone and marble sarcophagi. and a jewellery section, and many other exhibits which may not be found in any other part of the world)
5- Islamic Age (The facade of an Islamic palace has been moved and reconstructed as the museum's main entrance. Some of the contents of the palace are also located in the museum, including carvings).

It also contains many exhibits made of glass and metal, as well as coins, from different periods of Islamic History. There are also scriptures from the Ummayad era to the Ottomans.
