On February 20, 1962, John Glenn made history as the first American to orbit Earth aboard Friendship 7 during NASA’s Mercury-Atlas 6 mission. This was a pivotal moment in the Space Race and human space exploration. Glenn splashed down in the Friendship 7 capsule near the Turks and Caicos Islands on February 20th, 1962, after nearly five hours in space.

Recent guest review from Savannah from NY “The photos do not do this incredible property justice. It’s a stunning oasis that is unlike other Airbnb’s I’ve stayed in. It feels like a home with the incredible design details but with all the amenities you need to thoroughly enjoy your stay. The house is right on the bay, with access to kayaks and can charter a boat if you want. The pool is incredible, gets great sun but also there’s a lot of shaded areas. It’s hard to leave the property but we rented a car and it’s about 15 min to Grace Bay Area where there are a ton of restaurants. For the beach, it’s a quick 5 min to pelican beach which is super private and a stunning walk. We got to watch the sunrise in the morning right on the dock. It was absolutely lovely, would stay again 10/10.” Thank you so much Savannah! We hope to have you back again soon. 🇦🇮

Happy Valentine’s from Turks and Caicos! Image and text from Island Life and times: It all began in 2000, when Daniel O. Forbes, of Middle Caicos decided it was time to bring back the traditional sport of his childhood: racing hand carved model sailboats.

This photo is an example of the craftsmanship - the building process is elaborate, with the same attention to detail one would give to a full-size boat: the hull, rudder, bow, mast and sail are all built by hand.
