headed out on a private charter to West Caicos, not expecting any whale encounters…But while snorkeling, he paused as he could hear the haunting song of a humpback whale in the distance…

Humpback males sing long, complex songs, lasting 5–30 minutes and traveling for miles underwater. Scientists believe these songs help attract mates or communicate with other whales.

Observe closely… it almost looked like someone was putting on a show. 💙

On a day like this, with time to linger on the water, snorkel, or simply watch the horizon, nature often has a few surprises of its own; moments you get to experience fully with the right guides by your side.

No matter how much someone tells you what it feels like to be in the water with whales, it’s something you have to unlock yourself.

At sunset off West Caicos, a mother and her calf drifted out of a turquoise haze. Seven minutes just suspended in the blue. Calm. Curious. Watching us as much as we watched them.

It wasn’t their size that shook me, it was their presence. For a few minutes, I was just another living thing in the ocean.

Special thanks to Nadja, for your friendship, leadership, and for making sure I finally got to experience this after four years here. Mission accomplished. 🩵✨
