On 14 February, a journey departs that traces a subtle line between land and water, past and present, sacred and everyday life. From the Atlantic coast to the Sahelian savannah, the route crosses estuaries, mangroves, forests and desert landscapes, where birds are a constant presence.

History unfolds through places that shaped West Africa: Dakar, intellectual and cultural capital; Gorée Island, with its powerful memory of the Atlantic slave trade; Saint-Louis, the former capital of French West Africa, suspended between river, ocean and desert, where time seems to slow down.

But Senegal is also about encounters. In the northern savannah, we meet nomadic Fulani herders, guardians of an ancient sense of beauty and elegance. In Touba, the sacred city of the Murid brotherhood, we discover a form of African Islam rooted in hospitality, spirituality and peaceful coexistence.
