“I’d never take my kids on safari…”

I can understand why some parents might think that.

Will they get bored? Will they appreciate it? Is it too much travelling? Are they old enough to really remember it?

But having been on safari myself, I absolutely would take my kids.

There is something completely different about seeing animals in the wild rather than behind glass or on a screen.

🐘 Watching elephants with their young
🦁 Seeing lions in their natural habitat
🦓 Driving through the Serengeti surrounded by wildlife
🌍 Learning from expert guides about animals, conservation and different cultures
🏕️ Sleeping in a tented safari camp with the African wilderness outside
🐃 Potentially witnessing something as extraordinary as the Great Migration

And I think, particularly as children get older, those shared experiences become even more special.

A safari isn’t about ticking animals off a list. It’s the early mornings, the excitement of every game drive and never knowing what you’re going to see next.

This is nature at its absolute finest. Nothing is staged and nothing is following a timetable.

And yes, be prepared for your children to see animals behaving exactly as animals do in the wild… 😏😂

That’s all part of safari too.

Would every child love it? Probably not. But for the right family, I genuinely think a Tanzania family safari could be one of those holidays they talk about for the rest of their lives.

🇨🇾 I WOULDN’T RECOMMEND THIS 5 STAR HOTEL TO EVERY COUPLE… EVEN THOSE WHO LOVE LUXURY HOTELS.

And there’s a very good reason why.

If your idea of the perfect luxury holiday is spending 7 days relaxing beside a beautiful swimming pool, enjoying the beach, sipping cocktails and heading out for a lovely evening meal, I’d probably recommend somewhere else.

Not because there’s anything wrong with that kind of holiday. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

But when a resort offers this much, I’d want you to make the most of it.

AND THAT’S EXACTLY WHY I WOULDN’T RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO EVERYONE.

As an independent travel advisor, I don’t believe the most expensive or impressive hotel is automatically the right choice.

If you simply want a beautiful hotel where you can switch off for a week, there may be other luxury resorts I’d recommend instead.

But if you want somewhere that combines exceptional 5 star facilities with incredible experiences, Cap St Georges would absolutely be on my shortlist.

Because choosing the right luxury hotel isn’t just about how beautiful it looks. It’s about finding somewhere that suits how YOU want to spend your holiday.
