We went to Lumphini Park to see the giant Laboon from One Piece.
But the real scene-stealer?
This chill Bangkok resident casually sunbathing nearby.
At first glance you’d swear it was a statue. No movement. No reaction. Just… majestic stillness.
Then the eye twitched.
Yep. Very real. Very alive. Very unbothered.
Bangkok’s famous monitor lizards have mastered the art of minding their own business. They’ll happily lounge in the shade while hundreds of people walk by like it’s the most normal thing in the world.
Meanwhile the tourists are doing double takes like: “Wait… did that statue just breathe?”
Only in Bangkok do you come for an anime whale…and leave talking about a prehistoric-looking park regular.
If you visit Lumphini Park, keep your eyes open. You might spot one of these calm giants enjoying the afternoon.
👀 Would you have noticed it was real?
