Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan first UNESCO’s World Heritage site in Southern Thailand!
UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee has officially inscribed Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan onto the World Cultural Heritage list. The decision makes the iconic temple complex Southern Thailand's first World Heritage site and the nation’s sixth cultural listing, capping a dedicated 14-year campaign by Thai authorities and local communities.

Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan in Nakhon Si Thammarat is one step closer to UNESCO World Heritage status. On January 15, Thailand's National Committee on Cultural and Natural Heritage approved the nomination, with the final proposal set to reach UNESCO by February 1 for the 2025 round.
