Thailand has updated its entry rules for Indian travellers from September 15, 2026. Now, Indian ordinary passport holders travelling to Thailand for tourism and travel can enter without a visa and they can now stay for up to 30 days. Earlier, Indian travellers were allowed to stay for up to 60 days under the visa free rule which was introduced in 2024.

If planning a trip to Thailand, there are a few important things needed to keep in mind. First, travelers passport should be valid for at least six months from the date they arrive in Thailand. If your passport is close to expiring then it is better to renew it before the trip. Travellers should also need carry at least THB 20,000 in cash per person, which is around 57,899 in Indian Rupees. This is the financial requirement mentioned for travellers entering Thailand under the visa exemption scheme. Travellers need to have a confirmed return or onward flight ticket. Make sure you have your hotel booking or other proof of accommodation as well. It is a good idea to keep these documents saved on your phone so you can easily show them if asked.

One important thing to remember when travelling to Thailand is the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC). Visitors need to complete it online within 72 hours before arriving in Thailand. So, make sure you fill it out before your flight to avoid any last minute hassle.

The vendor just laughed and pointed at a QR code sticker instead.

Thailand's gone almost fully cashless through PromptPay/Digital Wallet — locals scan a code for everything from 7-Eleven to a fruit cart on the sidewalk.

For a long time, tourists were locked out of this entirely, because using it required a Thai bank account.

That's no longer true.

Kasikornbank partnered with an app called TAGTHAi to build a workaround:

👉 Pick up a free PAY&TOUR prepaid card at any KBank exchange booth (they're all over Suvarnabhumi), show your passport, top it up with cash, then link it inside the TAGTHAi app under "Easy Pay."

From there, you scan the same QR codes locals use, everywhere.

A few details worth knowing before you rely on it:

you need to be 20 or older to apply, any leftover balance is refundable but only within 15 days of your first top-up, and KBank ATMs let you withdraw up to 10,000 baht a day with no fee.

One more thing — KBank actually simplified this whole process in August 2026, removing the physical card requirement for at least some users.

If you're setting this up now, check the app first; you may be able to skip the booth visit entirely. 🇹🇭

Wat Phutthaisawan — A Glimpse into Ayutthaya’s Royal Past 🇹🇭
