It is official. This evening we are to be released back into the community with a covid free tick of approval!!!
14 days looking out at the world, wondering if we made the right decision in taking the kids from a safe environment in Thailand, going through airports and thus coming into contact with others from all around the world. For us we were lucky, but mark my words. It is not an easy decision at the moment, do you stay overseas if you are safe and in a position to do so, or do you make your way back home facing possibility of infection and a huge financial burden not to mention the political and media driven climate in which you are demonised returning.
Quarantine is essential part of travel now. It is hard!!!!!! We are lucky though, we have had an awesome location, nice views, good food, kind staff and and extra room. I'm not sure we would have all survived otherwise!!
Can't wait to feel the fresh air again and walk along the cold empty beaches

Life on a boat has its ups and downs. This is never more evident than in a time of global crisis. Since March, we have been lucky enough to weather this storm in in the safe and friendly waters of a Thailand, predominantly Phuket. From the quiet and empty streets in March, came the virtual lockdown conditions of April and May. Suburbs were all lockdown and we were all strongly discouraged on leaving our homes for anything other than a food shop. Even the beaches and parks were all closed. James and the boys remains onboard for 6weeks. Leah would adorn her mask and make the weekly shop run thanks to Captain Scott.
This time was made easier by joining forces with another Australian Family. SV Troppo, with their 2 girls became our quarantine buddies, keeping each other sane with kid sharing and many a night spent playing cards and board games until the wee hours. Life as you would expect fell into the routine of school, swims around the boat and an assortment of water sports.
When the opportunity to change things up a bit with some villa life, we all jumped at it. Boat jobs needed to be done and to be honest the monsoonal humidity was beginning to wear a little thin!!!!
Troppo was hauled out and Mahiti was quickly readied for some serious floor varnishing. The pool, garden and air conditioning made schooling and life so much more pleasant. The kids quickly became siblings, spending their days swinging between playing and arguing busting the mothers dreams of relaxing by the pool while the kids quietly entertained each other. Oh well........
By the end of May the virus was well under control in Thailand and things were starting to relax and reopen. This allowed us to explore more of Phuket and enroll the boys in some tennis coaching which they loved. Ewyn has now added this to his list of hobbies he want to continue.
Eventually with much patience on James behalf, the floors were complete (looking awesome) and it was sadly time to part ways with out quarantine family and move back onto the gentle rock of Mahiti.
I have included a range of pictures from this time as it has been so long since we updated everyone.
With the uncertainty of the world we are making changes to our plans. More on this soon.

It’s been a while and the world has gone crazy in between, so it is very much time for an update.
As per the last update we where welcomed safely into Thailand enabling us to relax a little and review our situation.
Thailand particularly, Phuket is quiet!! Bars, clubs, restaurants, and massage are closed. No long tails or speed boats are moving around. Some tourists are still here (mostly Russian), but not many. Daily movement is tightening now only to essential outings are aloud. The beaches and national parks are closed.
So what does this mean for us??
We have a fully stocked and fuelled boat ready for any change in circumstances. We are currently social isolating with another kid boat spending our days in schooling, shortening the never ending jobs list, swimming, kayaking, fishing and monitoring the local and international situation.
The plan for the moment is to sit tight.
I will add a few pics later today of pre virus fun so as not to course any confusion

Corona impact: We checked out of Malaysia to head back to Phuket to pick some things up a few days ago. After we. He led out Malaysia made the decision to not accept visitors, including those on yachts. The information on the situation in Thailand checking in was not all that clear so on the sail up we where not sure what would happen. We had visions of being stuck on the boat for 14 days with the boys going crazy.

Very pleased to say that we have just checked into Thailand with no issues.. Yay. So for now we will be exploring the west coat of Phuket.

We’ve have been a little quiet of late as we have been getting some jobs done and have been working at setting up boat life routine again for both us and the boys. Phuket was a busy time but we still managed to have fun thanks to new friends captain Scott and Joanna, David and her family who are stuck in Thailand unable to return home due to the virus outbreak. We then set out to Langkawi, Malaysia for a boat visa run and some much needed new batteries. James has done an awesome job modernising Mahiti to Lithium power with very little blood and tears but a bucket load of sweat!!!
Tomorrow we head away from the boat for a few days to go school book shopping in Kuala Lumpur. I’m excited, The boys are less so

Raily beach play time. Woke up this morning surrounded by fishing boats and nets. Pretty cool but glad we didn’t plan on an early start. Boys took us for a kayak to the caves, then onwards towards Phuket
