Managing a larger family group is not always easy...

But when everything is planned carefully, everyone can relax, enjoy the journey, and make memories together. ❤️

This wonderful group of 12 guests chose our **KBL Exclusive Journey** — one of our original programmes, developed from years of welcoming Dutch families to Kanchanaburi.

To keep the journey comfortable and flexible, we arranged **two VIP vans**, giving everyone plenty of space throughout the trip. 🚐🚐

And with **Pinky and Toto** helping to look after the group, every part of the journey could run smoothly from one experience to the next.

Their adventure included some of the best experiences Thailand has to offer:

🧂 A visit to the traditional salt fields, seeing how local salt is produced

🏛️ Kanchanaburi's World War II history and important historical sites

🛕 A visit to one of the area's remarkable temples

🚂 A journey on the historic Death Railway, following a railway route built during one of the most difficult chapters of the region's history

🌳 Zipline adventure through the forest for a little extra excitement

💦 And finally, the beautiful Erawan Waterfalls, where everyone could slow down, cool off, and enjoy nature together.

🐘 WE WENT LOOKING FOR THE HOME OF WILD ELEPHANTS…
AND THE FOREST GAVE US FAR MORE THAN WE EXPECTED. 🌿

This was our very first family experience with KBL Journey’s new Wild Elephant & Forest Conservation Experience.

And honestly…

Even we were surprised by what the forest decided to show us.

This is not an elephant camp.

There are no elephants waiting for visitors.
No performances.
No feeding lines.
No chains.
No hooks.
And no guarantee that you will see an elephant.

Instead, we enter the forest with experienced wildlife rangers and travel deep into a protected area — a place where wildlife is free to decide whether we get to see them or not.

On this particular day, we were incredibly lucky.

Our journey took us more than 10 kilometres deep into the forest, travelling through a remarkably rich and beautiful ecosystem toward one of the most remote ranger stations in the area.

And the wildlife started appearing.

🦌 Deer and muntjac moving through the forest.

🦚 Wild peafowl.

🐓 Wild junglefowl and pheasants.

🐒 Monkeys.

🦜 Hornbills, including some rare species.

🐦 Hill mynas and many other forest birds.

🐕 And even a dhole — the elusive Asian wild dog.

Some of these animals were species that even our own team had never personally encountered here before.

But then came the moment we had been hoping for…

🐘 A wild elephant.

Only around three kilometres into the journey, our ranger spotted a local elephant feeding on fresh bamboo leave beside the forest road.

It was approximately 30 metres away.

We could have stopped.

But we didn't.

The rangers made the decision not to stop the vehicle because the safety of both the family and the elephant comes first.

We simply continued quietly through the forest.

And that is exactly how a genuine wildlife experience should be.

Later, on our return journey, we were incredibly fortunate once again.

Another elephant were spotted drinking water in the distance.

Again, we did not approach them.

We did not call them.

We did not try to get closer for a better photograph.

We simply watched from a safe distance and continued on our way.

Two encounters with wild elephants in one journey.

We consider ourselves extremely lucky.

But the elephants were never the only reason this experience was special.

🌱 We also became part of the forest's future.

Together with the wildlife rangers, the family took part in conservation activities designed to support the ecosystem and create future food sources for wild elephants and other wildlife.

We learned about the plants that sustain the forest.

We participated in planting and spreading seeds.

We learned how artificial salt licks can provide important minerals for wildlife.

And most importantly, we learned something that is very difficult to understand from inside an elephant camp:

Wildlife does not belong to us.

We are visitors in their world.

For us at KBL Journey, this is what makes this experience different.

We are not taking families to see elephants that have been brought into a tourist environment.

We are taking families into the forest where elephants actually belong.

Sometimes you may see an elephant.

Sometimes you may see deer.

Sometimes a hornbill may suddenly fly across the trail.

Sometimes you may discover tracks, feeding marks or other signs that an elephant passed through only moments before.

And sometimes…

the forest may decide to give you an unforgettable encounter.

This is not a zoo.

It is not a show.

It is not about guaranteeing what you will see.

The forest decides.

And perhaps that is the most beautiful part of all.

🌿 Come not just to see wildlife.
Come to understand it.
Come to walk through its home.
And come to help protect the place where it belongs.

❤️ The Most Special Journey of Our Summer

Sometimes, a KBL Journey starts with a booking...

And sometimes, it ends with two families becoming friends.

This summer, we had the great pleasure of welcoming Sandra and her beautiful Dutch family to Kanchanaburi.

They chose our exclusive KBL Journey — a journey designed not simply to visit places, but to experience Thailand through local eyes.

Their adventure started with the famous Maeklong Railway Market and Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, followed by Khao Ngu, Wat Tham Suea, the beautiful Erawan Waterfalls, and the history that makes Kanchanaburi such a meaningful place to visit.

There was nature. 🌿
There was history. 🏛️
There was adventure. 🛶
There was laughter. 😄

But somewhere along the way, something much more special happened.

They didn't just travel with us.

They became part of our family.

One of the highlights was our Family Dinner at Bamboo Kitchen. 🏡🍲

Instead of eating in a restaurant, Sandra and her family came into our home and shared a table with my family.

We cooked together.
We laughed together.
We shared stories.
And for one evening, two families from Thailand and the Netherlands simply enjoyed being together.

And then there was something I will remember for a very long time...

My son, Toto, became friends with Sandra's children. ❤️

Watching the children play, laugh, and spend time together made me realise that the most beautiful part of travelling isn't always the places we visit.

Sometimes, it is the friendships that begin along the way.

For me and my family, Sandra and her family are no longer simply our Dutch guests.

They are our Dutch friends.

And perhaps one day, when these children are grown up, they will look back and remember that somewhere in Thailand, they once met another family who welcomed them into their home.

That is what KBL Journey means to me.

It is more than a tour.

More than an itinerary.

More than a collection of beautiful places.

It is about opening our home, sharing our culture, and creating friendships that can continue from one generation to the next. 🌿❤️

Sandra, Roland, Colsan, Fannan and Stan...

🏛️📖 History Never Takes a Summer Break.

While our team has been busy welcoming families throughout this summer, one thing has never changed...

Our passion for sharing the history of Kanchanaburi.

This week, we were delighted to welcome not one... but two wonderful couples, each enjoying the same carefully designed private history programme.

Although they followed the same itinerary, every journey remained completely private, allowing each couple to travel at their own pace, ask questions, and truly connect with the stories behind every location.

From the iconic Bridge over the River Kwai... 🌉

To the peaceful Allied War Cemetery... 🕊️

Through the moving history of the Death Railway and the lives forever changed during World War II...

History isn't just something to read in a book.

It's something to stand beside...

To walk through...

And to remember.

When this wonderful mum travelled to Thailand with her two children, she wasn't searching for crowded tourist attractions or famous landmarks.
