"Loy Krathong" means "to float a basket" and is a Thai festival where people float decorated baskets called krathongs on water. The act is symbolic of letting go of bad luck, negative thoughts, and grudges, while also giving thanks to the water goddess and wishing for a fresh start. The festival takes place on the night of the full moon in the 12th month of the traditional Thai lunar calendar.
