This led to protests on freedom of expression and the journalist that organised the protests was arrested today - the government redirected a European flight to secure his arrest. Methinks the world needs to pay attention to the upcoming elections in belarus.

2020 was not a year that the travel industry will fondly remember. Hotels, tour operators, guides, transport operators, countries, airlines, agencies.... all struck with an impossible opponent. COVID-19 hit the reset button for the entire tourism industry and likely changed the landscape of tourism for a generation of aspiring jet-setters.

There was one winner that emerged from 2020 though, mother earth! The sites that are over trampled got a break, the animals that are hunted by hoards with cameras received respite, the air congested with the footprint of millions of travellers was able to take a deep breath!

With the clock ticking on global warming faster than politicians can act... this year was a harsh way for Mother Earth to reclaim lost ground. Discover Elsewhere shut it’s doors and focused forward to 2021. It’s time to reinvent.

With a new website in the making, new partnerships afoot and a 2021 that is almost fully booked until mid November - DE remains in the game, more prepared than ever to field the requests of those struck by wanderlust.

2018 has been a good year for Discover Elsewhere as the company continues to expand its operational base. Whilst travel companies scramble to establish better referral incentive program to source new clients, Discover Elsewhere has decided to rely solely on client satisfaction. Discover Elsewhere only accepts new travel enquiries from existing clients or referrals made by existing clients. This decision aims to create an organically grown community of like-minded travellers. It was also made in the hope of maximising our quote : confirmation ratio. As the industry average sits at 40%, we boasts a 96% confirmation rate. This means our labour costs are not absorbing the costs for failed quotations - which keeps our pricing competitive. The most recent FIT trip we compared found our prices to be approximately 1/3 the price of our closest competitors. Because we work with like minded travellers DE maintains a higher rated level of service and our trip evaluations are unmatched within our region. Many companies claim to be innovative in their approach to the industry and yet are still attempting to be everything to everyone. Discover Elsewhere is proud to be one of very few that is challenging the industry.... There are business' that are not adapting or innovating their business model. More travel companies open every year than any other and 90% of them fail in the first year. Welcome to the newcomers in the market - I hope that you create a strong niche. A busy end of the year for Discover Elsewhere, this week we have spread our wings further still - as we develop trips in 8 countries with a huge variety of clients knocking at our door. This week facinng new challenges like organizing self-drive motorbikes in Vietnam, Japan Rail passes, tuk tuks in India, bicycles in Laos and donkeys in Morocco. Loving the challenge of doing things that are uniquely suited to the traveller!
