Blocks that once housed British Royal Artillery officers now hold the check-in desk.
Capella Singapore opened in March 2009 on a Sentosa hilltop known as The Knolls, built around two Tanah Merah bungalows dating to the 1880s and gazetted for conservation in 2000. Foster + Partners restored them and extended outward in a curve that reads, from the air, as a figure of eight. Jaya Ibrahim did the interiors; André Fu handled the later refresh.
Peacocks patrol the lawns. Auriga Spa times its treatments to the lunar cycle. It remains the most architecturally interesting hotel in Singapore.
